Her Unexpected Hero by Melody Anne Book Review

March 1, 2015 by Classystaff

On days when I have just a few hours to read or I am traveling somewhere, I love to pick up a Pocket Book and jump right in. I especially love the size and the great selection of awesome reads. I was excited to check out a new release from w well known author, Melody Anne, that is a sweet romance, perfect for a rainy afternoon.

Would you recognize true love if it sat down next to you? In this unforgettable new spinoff of the Billionaire books from New York Times bestselling indie author Melody Anne, two strangers must look past their painful memories to make way for everlasting love.

Alyssa’s modeling career came to an abrupt end when her manager boyfriend emptied her bank account and ruined her professional reputation. Now she’s heading to a new town in Montana to rebuild her life—if she can even get there (stupid delayed planes!). But things are looking up when she’s upgraded to first class and a mysterious stranger sits down next to her…

Jackson Whitman doesn’t believe in love, or commitment, or forever—not since he lost his wife and daughter. But the beautiful woman sitting next to him at the gate has him rethinking that position. Can he convince her to be his for the night? Or will she convince him to be hers for a lifetime?

My Thoughts: I am a sucker for sappy romances and this one had all of the trappings of a feel good story. Coming from a spin off of one of the authors other books, this is a stand alone that was just right for me to snuggle up to on a rainy Saturday.

Nothing heavy and a pretty fast read, the story is a fun romance. Jackson seems to do quite a lot of the work for someone who is running scared, but both of the main characters have secrets and tender hearts. Alyssa never trusted her feelings or her heart, plus she has a huge secret that was really starting to tick me off by the end of the story. It is an authors job to get a reaction from her readers and this author sure did that. I was antsy and annoyed, just waiting for the secret to come out and if she would ever give the guy a break.

The book is light-hearted and characters worked well together overall. I felt a bit of a disconnect in the beginning with Alyssa and it really took me until the end of the book to feel like she was all in. Jackson on the other hand worked hard to prove his feelings and still had to work to get the girl. I felt bad for him! LOL

This is a solid, quick and easy read that you will enjoy. I did and look forward to the author’s next offering. Check out Melody Anne’s site for all of the books she has written and give her a follow on her social media for updates!

Her Unexpected Hero by Melody Anne is not something I would read, but it sounds great for people who like this genre. Thank you for sharing this review.

Thanks. I am checking this one out. I normally go for mysteries and thrillers but sometimes you just want a light, easy read for the weekend. Like you put it to snuggle up with on a rainy day….or a cold one like we’ve been happy. I like that the characters and plot still have depth.
