Hitting the Local Farmer’s Market

March 19, 2015 by Classystaff

There is a big benefit to living where I do in California. I am able to drive just a few miles and hit the farmers market all year round. Granted not all types of produce is going to be available, but it is nice to be able to grab some fresh produce and fruits whenever I want. Once the growing season kicks in, even more markets will be opening so I can go several days of the week and really reduce the purchases from the grocery store.

Fresh Veggies

I have been working really hard at trying to eat fresh and eat healthier for a bigger impact on my weight and overall health. I have been juicing the past week or so and that is going well, especially with the fresh veggies. It is so good.

I know it is still winter for a lot of you, but I wanted to share some delicious veggies with you, virtually anyway, so you can look forward to the freshness that you will be getting soon!

What is your favorite fruits and veggies to buy fresh? DO you have local markets that offer goodness fresh from the farm?

These veggies look so bright and fresh. I can’t wait until this snow melts and we can go to our local farmers market. Everything seems to taste better when it is fresh, organic and purchased locally.

Our store does have good produce, but it just can’t stand up to homegrown. We love the farmers markets, too. My daughter and I try to hit it early, but the good ones are quite a drive for us. We always have to get tomatoes and bell peppers. It’s a good time to go right before having hamburgers for fresh lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. We found a market that had a variety of peppers last year, and my daughter loved it. Many to try. Can’t wait! Enjoy yours.

My favorite fruits and vegetables to buy fresh are broccoli, spinach, apples, strawberries, mango, and pears. I’m not sure if the fruits and veggies at my grocery store are farm fresh but I do know that they are organic.

Love the farmers market for buying fresh veggies and flowers. I also enjoy seeing the crafts that people have to sell.

My daughter is the office manager for an organic farm so she brings me lots of fresh veggies in season. I love to buy my tomatoes fresh!

We have a farmer’s market every Saturday morning in Studio City and the International Market I can walk to has lots of local produce so even though it’s a store, it’s still pretty fresh. I must consume at least 5 lb of carrots per week, my fave veggie.

We have several local farmer’s markets and I love to go to them. I love to buy local and I love knowing there is NO GMO in the fruits and veggies that I purchase locally because GMO is illegal in my area thank the Lord!
