It’s a common misconception that you need a lot of time and money to live a sustainable life. In fact, with these five tips, you can embrace eco-friendly living no matter what your monthly budget!
1. Recycle
Recycling is easier than ever thanks to city-wide environmental efforts. In some neighborhoods it can be as simple as dumping all papers and plastics into a special bin and rolling it out with the garbage can.
2. Buy Organic
Not only will organic products support the local economy, but they’ll also reduce carbon emissions because things don’t have to be shipped across the country to reach your grocery store.
3. Experiment With Solar Power
You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to harness solar energy. A few photovoltaic panels on your roof can get your feet wet when it comes to solar power; then you can upgrade as your lifestyle and budget allows.
4. Use Your Thermostat Wisely
Try not to overly rely on your furnace or air conditioning unit. There are plenty of ways to regulate your body temperature and keep your home comfortable without resorting to the thermostat.
5. Know Your Energy Companies
Get your power from a responsible company like PALMco Energy. They understand the importance of the environment, and they do everything they can to promote eco-friendly and sustainable business practices.
These are just five ways to go green without breaking the bank. Who says you have to spend money to save the planet?

We have various ways to recycle including some items being picked up,every Friday. We are trying to go more green.
Living in the country, I find that recycling is really quite difficult and can actually be quite expensive. Same with buying organic food. But I do turn down the thermostat and save energy–and money–that way. I guess we all just have to do what we can, right?
About a year ago, we moved to a smaller town where it is so much harder to recycle, & I actually miss it! The town we lived in before provided a recycling bin & picked it up, making it so easy! Hopefully, the place we are in now will soon set up a place to take recyclables.
I do all but the solar. I live in a Townhouse and solar is not approved. I buy organic as much as I can.
These are great ways to go green. You definitely do not need to spend more money to save the planet, I would think that cutting back would help to save the planet. Thank you for sharing this post.
I didn’t realize about knowing your energy company. Thanks for the tip. Recycling is easier than ever. We have to take ours into town but more and more places are getting the bins to recycle in. Not only that but many items like catalogs, plastic, cereal boxes…can be dumped into the same bin. You don’t even have to take the lids off the water bottles in most.
I’m all about using the thermostat wisely. I never use my heat or air conditioning–ever. I’ve used a fan a few times, but luckily, like the heat. You can always bundle up in the cold, and very doable in our mild SoCal climate.
Great suggestions! If we all try, even a little bit, we can make a difference!
