Our pets become good friends and an important part of our family as soon as we bring them home. They love us, give us comfort and make us smile. When it’s time to take a trip, bringing along our favorite traveling companion just got a bit easier.
Keeping your pet comfortable on a trip across town or across the country is important. If they are off to doggie daycare for the day or spending a week traveling, you want your pet to have everything they need to travel and visit in comfort.
My Louie loves to take trips with us and our dogs have traveled cross country many times with us. We have been through the ups and downs of long trips and short trips and learned a lot along the way. I have some tips to share with you that could help on your next trip.
Tips for Traveling with Your Pets
* Make sure to keep your pets shots and health care up to date. Carry your vet shot records with you on any trip.
* Micro Chip your pet in case they get lost
* Have your contact information and cell number on their collar
* Make sure to bring plenty of bottled water and offer often
* Make scheduled stops every few hours to allow your dog to stretch their legs and exercise a bit
* Offer food but do not make a pet eat. Traveling often will upset their tummy
* Don’t forget medications
* Bring a soft blanket or a favorite toy they love for all of the comforts of home
* Carry all of their favorite things in a cool case like the one from Solvit!

Really like the PupSTEP Wood Stairs – Large. They are stylish and would look nice while being functional. So many of the stairs look out of place and can ruin the look of a room for guests. These don’t take up as much space but still allow pets to easily climb up onto their favorite places.
