Supercharged Juice and Smoothie Recipes

How many of you made New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier in 2015? I know I did and so far, I am off to a great start. For those of you who are looking for healthy home juicing recipes, we have several to share with you today.

The recipes and photos are courtesy of the Supercharged Juice & Smoothie Recipes Cookbook by author Christine Bailey who is a licensed nutritionist.

Natural Anti-Inflammatory Fighter Juice Recipe (p 50)

¼ pineapple, skin cut off
½-inch piece ginger root, peeled 2 large handfuls blackberries
1 apple
½ teaspoon Amla Berry powder
¼ teaspoon ground Turmeric
½ teaspoon Omega Oil Blend or Flaxseed Oil
1 teaspoon Colostrum powder or Glutamine powder

A range of ingredients with natural anti-inflammatory properties, plus supercharged foods, form the cornerstone of this juice, which will help to dampen inflammation in the body and assist healing. I recommend you take this if you suffer with an inflammatory or autoimmune condition.

Put the pineapple, ginger, blackberries and apple through an electric juicer. Transfer to a blender or food processor and add the remaining ingredients, then blend briefly to combine. Serve immediately.

Health Benefits: Turmeric is an extraordinary, healing herb. Research has demonstrated its amazing ability to lower inflammation, boost detoxification and support liver function. the superantioxidants contained in turmeric help the body to protect itself from damage and may also prevent cognitive decline.

Iron Fortifier Juice Recipe (p 72)

1 large handful watercress leaves
1 handful parsley leaves and stalks
1 green apple
1 celery stalk
½ to 1 lime, to taste, peeled
1 kiwifruit, peeled
¼ teaspoon Panax Ginseng tincture or ¹?8 teaspoon Panax Ginseng powder
¹?8 to ¼ teaspoon Chlorella or Spirulina powder, to taste

If you’re looking for a healthy pick-me-up for flagging energy levels, try this invigorating iron-rich juice. Both watercress and parsley provide iron and b vitamins, such as folate and b12, which the body needs for healthy red blood cells, and for mental and physical health.

Put all the ingredients, except the Panax Ginseng and Chlorella, through an electric juicer. Stir in the Panax Ginseng and Chlorella, and serve immediately.

Health benefits: Panax Ginseng has traditionally been used for its energy-giving properties to combat stress and improve mood. Various research studies have shown that it can improve cognitive function and memory, as well as stabilizing blood sugar levels, boosting circulation and reducing fatigue.

Heavy Metal Detox Juice Recipe (page 90)

1 small banana
¼ teaspoon Chlorella Powder
¼ teaspoon Wheatgrass powder
1 teaspoon Ground Flaxseed
1 small handful cilantro leaves
1 small handful watercress leaves
¼ mango, peeled and chopped
scant ½ cup Coconut Water or water

Rich with cilantro and watercress, and with fruity highlights, this intensely green smoothie packs quite a punch. It will keep your body clean and help to remove toxins and waste material—a great smoothie to include in a detox or cleansing program. Freezing the banana keeps the taste fresh and light.

Chop the banana and put it into a freezer bag. Exclude all the air, then seal and freeze overnight or until solid. Put the banana into a blender or food processor and add the remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth and creamy. Serve immediately.

I like Deb E’s thought on having this for St. Patrick’s Day. This definitely works for the green. I have made fruit smoothies before but never like these. I didn’t even know what chlorella powder was, but it sounds healthy. I like the nutritional benefits of these, and I bet they taste good, too. Hope you enjoyed them.

  7. The pretty green ones are definitely on the list for St Patty’s Day. I went nuts and bought too much parsley a week ago since it was 7 bunches for a dollar, and will have to juice them so they don’t go to waste. I only bought 5, lol, but along with 10 pounds carrots, a girl can only eat so much, lol. Must get some chlorella powder.
