Heart Healthy Oatmeal for Breakfast

February 16, 2015 by Shelly

Quaker Steel Cut Quick 3-Minute OatmealDuring the busy week, when it comes to breakfast…I am a quick grab and go type of gal. At 5 AM, I don’t have time to be fixing a large meal that takes 20 to 30 minutes to prepare. With that said, I do like something quick, hot and filling.

Recently I was introduced to the new Quaker Steel Cut Quick 3-Minute Oatmeal in the Blueberries & Cranberries flavor. This is a Heart Healthy oatmeal that takes only 3 minutes to prepare. Perfect for busy people like myself who are concerned about their health.

Each serving is only 170 calories. 0.5g of saturated fat, 210mg. sodium, 12g. sugar and you get 3g. of fiber. We all know we don’t get enough of good fiber in our daily diets!

Quaker quick & easy Steel Cut Oatmeal is 100% steal cut oats, expertly cut to cook quickly while still preserving the hearty texture and rich, nutty taste of the whole oat. Toss in some delicious real blueberries and cranberries and you have a winning combination!

I make mine in the microwave and in less than 3 minutes I have a bowl of perfectly cooked oatmeal every time. I let it sit for about 2 minutes after I take it out of the microwave & then it’s at the perfect temperature for me to enjoy.

The texture is just perfect…nothing clumpy or lumpy at all. The blueberries and cranberries are moist, juicy and oh…so good! They really give the oats a nice flavor blend. While I enjoy regular oatmeal from time-to-time…I am all about the flavored oatmeal with natural fruits. It’s a really hearty breakfast for me and keeps my tummy filled until lunch time.

Have you all tried the new Quaker Steel Cut Quick 3-Minute Oatmeal yet? If you’ve ever disliked oatmeal due to lack of flavor or the clumpy, lumpy texture that it can have…I highly suggest that you try this one. I am in-love with it!!!

Oats store well and are good to have on hand for gluten free meals too. It’s pretty inexpensive for the nutrition and keeps you full with the fiber. I like to go more for the less processed foods when I can.

Wow I can’t believe one serving is only 170 calories now that I like. I must admit that I have not been eating the most healthy breakfast and I really need to try to eat something like this a few times per week I think it will really help my weight loss.

I just tried the steel cut for the first time and like the texture of it much better. I like that there is a quick version.

Oatmeal is one of my favorite quick lunches. I usually toss a handful of raisins into a packet of instant oatmeal and microwave it with milk. Lately I’ve been using Quaker lower-sugar instant oatmeal, but I might be enticed to try the steel-cut style. I’ve also been meaning to try the overnight oatmeal recipes I’ve been seeing a lot of lately, to wean myself off of the packets.

I did not realize that Quaker now has steel cut oatmeal combinations. I would enjoy this, blueberry and cranberry combo and will check to see if they have fit in lower sugar versions too.
