I have seven products from Nubian Heritage to review: Coconut & Papaya Soap, Carrot & Pomegranate Soap, Indian Hemp & Haitian Vetiver Soap, Coconut & Papaya Body Wash, Coconut & Papaya Body Lotion, Raw Shea Butter Body Lotion and Indian Hemp & Haitian Vetiver Body Lotion. I would say that I am all set for cleansing and moisturizing for the rest of the winter!
The Nubian Heritage line was created by two New York City street vendors in 1992. Richilieu Dennis and Nyema Tubman were fresh out of college and without jobs. They decided to create luxurious natural beauty products from traditional African recipes, using fair trade ingredients. They initially made the products in their home and although they are no longer made in their bathtub, the company still creates their beauty products themselves, using fair trade and organic ingredients. This brand’s mission is to make cultural exchange the model for transforming the global community. The company also invests in community commerce.
The first thing I noticed about the products is the wonderful light scents. The Raw Shea Butter Body Lotion is absorbed easily into your skin and leaves it soft and supple. The Indian Hemp and Haitian Vetiver Body Lotion is very soothing for especially dry skin. The Coconut Papaya Body Wash provides a nice rich lather and pairs nicely afterward with the Coconut & Papaya Body Lotion to help to carry that nice fruity coconut scent into your day. If you do not want to use Body Wash on a given day, you can use the Coconut & Papaya Soap instead. The Coconut and Papaya nourish and improve skin tone, while vanilla beans in the soap gently exfoliate your skin. A nice bonus is that Nubian Heritage’s travel size body washes and lotions are TSA-Approved for air travel.
If you are not in the mood for Papaya & Coconut, then try the Carrot & Pomegranate Soap which is a beautiful orange color! Carrot seed oil and ground Pomegranate and Cranberry Seeds are blended into this Shea Butter-based soap. The vitamins and minerals in this soap help to improve skin tone and rejuvenate skin.
The Indian Hemp and Haitian Vetiver Soap contains Neemoil with has anti-bacterial properties. The crushed Hemp Seed and Vetiver (yes – I had to look this up, too!), which is a perennial grass from India used for its anti-bacterial properties, gently polish and cleanse rough, dry skin leaving it smooth and soft.
So, if you are looking for natural beauty products that use organic, fair trade ingredients and smell wonderful, check out Nubian Heritage. Daily use of these products will result in nourished, healthier looking skin!
