Beyond Limits by Laura Griffin Book Review

February 22, 2015 by Classystaff

I am a happier person when I find a book that I can really get into. I love curling up into my chair and devouring a book that captures my attention. I am excited to share a book that I received to review that combines so many of my favorite genres into one story line – military, suspense and romance. Plus I am shocked that I have never heard of the author before… but that is about to be rectified. I think I am in love…
Beyond Limits by Laura Griffin
Beyond Limits by Laura Griffin
Series: Tracers (Book 8)
Publisher: Pocket Books (January 27, 2015)
ISBN-10: 1451689357
ISBN-13: 9781451689358

Following in the bestselling tradition of the Tracers series, including Exposed, Scorched, and Twisted, Beyond Limits pulls out all the stops with Griffin’s most gripping thriller yet.

An FBI agent and a Navy SEAL race against time in New York Times bestselling author Laura Griffin’s newest Tracers novel. “Griffin delivers the goods!” (Publishers Weekly)

FBI agent Elizabeth LeBlanc is still caught in the aftermath of her last big case when she runs into the one man from her past who is sure to rock her equilibrium even more. Navy SEAL Derek Vaughn is back home from a harrowing rescue mission in which he found evidence of a secret terror cell on US soil. Elizabeth knows he’ll do anything to unravel the plot—including seducing her for information. And despite the risks involved, she’s tempted to let him. Together with the forensics experts at the Delphi Center, Derek and Elizabeth are closing in on the truth, but it may not be fast enough to avert a devastating attack…

My Thoughts: I love a great action movie and when a book includes it too, I love it. This book from Laura Griffin has a ton of action – from the terrorist plots to the hot SEAL that helps the FBI agent – oh yeah. This book is right up my alley! Imagine my surprise when I found that this is a series! And the fact that I have never heard of these books prior makes me both happy and sad. Happy, because I have a lot of awesome reading to catch up with and sad because I could have been enjoying Laura Griffin’s books sooner!

While this book is part of a series, it is a definite stand alone read. The main characters were introduced in prior book and then developed into this storyline.

I was enthralled from the beginning of the book and it just got better and better. The author has a strong knowledge of military terms and info plus the plot of the book is very plausible. Her writing style is nice and flowing plus her characters are real people. I had no trouble buying into them.

I love Derek! He is intense and sweet but I wanted to know more. I really wanted the book to keep on going. I wish it offered a longer ending for these guys. I want to see them together as a couple. Maybe the author will bring them back again and develop the more personal side of their relationship.

Overall, this book was a winner for me. I loved the action, the suspense and the bit of romance too. A perfect blend of a great read! Check out all of Laura Griffin’s novels. She has so many to check out in different genre’s too!

This book sounds like a winner with all the different features and I might look into the other books in this series.

This sounds like a great blend of genres for me, too. I want depth and suspense in my books. Mystery and intrigue keeps me interested, and realistic characters really pull you in. Maybe she will bring them back into more books for the series. This sounds like it worked for you as a standalone book, and you didn’t need to read the others in the series to follow. I like that.

I do love a good thriller, so I think I would like this series. It sounds like one I need to look for.

This is my favorite genre too. I think most everything I watch on TV has something to do with FBI and most on CBS, since that station comes in most clearly (lol, no cable but always have something to watch it seems!)

I will have to track this series to catch any sales. Tonight I found a book one in a series I wanted, that was free (ebook) so that will get me started. Last week, it was 2 of 3 in a series I found free and all because of blogger reviews like these. Thanks so much!
