6 of the Best Homemade Soup Recipes

February 18, 2015 by Shelly

Homemade soups are the perfect meal or side dish during this time of the year when the weather outside is freezing & all you want is something warm and filling in your belly.

I am a huge soup lover and eat it all year long. During the cold winter months I look for recipes that are easy-to-prepare and filling. A good recipe doesn’t have to take all day to make and a gazillion ingredients to make it.

Over the years we’ve shared many recipes here on the Two Classy Chics blog and today, I picked out 6 of our favorites. You can click on the link for each one and go print out the recipe and make it today.

6 of the Best Homemade Soup Recipes

* Ham & Potato Chowder Soup – A quick and easy recipe to use up some of your leftover holiday ham.

* Poached Mozzarella & Tomato Soup – I love a good homemade tomato soup especially this particular one which is delicious over grilled curry bread.

* Potato, Bacon and Cheese Soup – I am a big fan of anything that contains potatoes, bacon and cheese so this soup is the perfect marriage of all three!

* Easy Split Pea Soup – If you love split pea but don’t like complicated recipes, then Chris’ recipe is just for you!

* Classic Chicken Corn Soup – I grew up eating a lot of homemade corn soup over the years thanks to my family always having a large backyard garden. When I eat this soup, I enjoy a good old-fashioned classic recipe like this one.

* Hearty Chicken Noodle Soup – Nadine’s recipe is a cross between a good old-fashion chicken noodle soup and a chicken potpie. Definitely looks delicious!

Our temperature this morning was -22, so bring on the hot soup! These are record lows for KY, so we aren’t used to temps quite that low. I need some hot soup.

I love a good soup. I think I will try the chicken corn first, followed by the potato, bacon and cheese soup. For some reason when I try to go there I get the tomato, soup again.

We had soup for dinner tonight! I made a nice, creamy soup with onions, carrots, and potatoes, using chicken stock I made a few days ago, and gently flavored with some thyme I have growing in a south-facing window. I’m on my way to check out your chicken corn soup–that sounds right up my alley. Thanks!

You can’t go wrong with a good chicken noodle. Soups are good all year round but especially nice in the winter. I love letting them simmer in the crock pot all day and enjoying a warm bowl as the cold air blows around the house. Right now with so many places getting lots of cold and snow, this is a great post. Thanks.
