Trying Home Remedies for Gout Relief

January 23, 2015 by Classystaff

Home Remedies for Gout
My husband has been a mess this week. He has been bedridden all week with a big flareup of Gout. That is a bad thing for someone that is already handicapped to begin with. So needless to say, this has been a long and stressful week. We have been looking for and trying different home remedies for Gout relief and while there is a ton of information out there, frankly, finding something that works quickly is tough.

So far we have tried the cherry juice. This has been very helpful for my father, who also gets gout flareups. But it is something that has to build up in your system too. We have also tried Citric acid. Someone told us Lemon juice is good to drink, however, I just read that it should be Lime juice. *sigh*. Plus I found out that bananas and apples are good to eat several times a day during a flare up. He is loading up on those this week!

Another interesting one I just found is that if you make a paste out of charcoal and apply it to the affected area, it is supposed to be one of the best pain relievers. This I am going to try!

Have you ever experienced Gout? Do you have a remedy that has worked for you? It is funny how everyone is different and what works for one does not work for another. I do know that this has been the worst and longest flare up that he has ever had. Share your tips and tricks!

I do not have any special foods for gout, but I do know that any of the ones you mentioned which we good for easing pain do take time and won’t work the same day. How did the charcoal work? Charcoal is a good absorbent which I is why people still swallow charcoal pills to absorb stomach acid.

Hmm, I wish I could help, but cherry juice is the only one I’ve heard of that helps. But, like you said, it needs to build up in your system. Definitely, make it a regular part of his diet! It helped my uncle.

Gout is one of those mysterious diseases that haven’t been researched enough. I have RA and my flares are no fun, but I don’t think they’re as painful as gout.

I personallly have only heard of the juices helping but youre right they dont help everyone. I thing gout is one of those things that it differs in each person . I hope he gets through this quickly.

My Dad had gout, and he swore by McCormicks Meat Tenderizer – only that brand. Not to put on his toe, but to put on as much food as he could. My parents used to argue about this all time, because my Mom said it had a lot of salt and sugar in it, but Dad was adament. He said it was the only thing that helped him. I wonder if it would help mixed with tart cherry juice, made into a paste, and applied to the affected area? I don’t know – but it’s worth a try, right? Hope your husband feels better!!

I don’t have any personal experience to share, but what I’ve learned from friends and family members who’ve had gout flare-ups, there really aren’t any quick fixes. I hope your husband starts feeling better soon–I do know it’s a very painful condition.

I have never had Gout, but my dad did. I know it was very painful for him and not easy to get help with.
