Dog lovers enjoy spoiling their dogs with treats now and then. I know my Lou loves treats! As long as they are not from the dinner table, he can have one treat a day, sometimes more depending on what it is. With all of the foods and products available to us now, it can be difficult to choose a healthy dog treat. So here are some healthy tips and options for your favorite pal!
Tips for Choosing Healthy Dog Treats
Natural foods and products are always the best. Here are some options I give my dog.
* Sweet potatoes – he loves the taste and has it in his kibble too
* Pumpkin – he will eat it off the spoon and love cookies made with it!
* Baby Carrots – crunchy and sweet
* Apples – he loves the red ones the best
* Cooked Eggs – twice a week he gets scrambled eggs. Great for his coat
* Peanut Butter – spread on an apple slice and he is in heaven
* Banana Chips – great for rewards when he is learning a new trick
* Berries – strawberry, raspberry and blueberry – he loves catching them
It is great to be able to feed him delicious fruits and veggies like these, but sometimes, he needs some additional help! Louie has been having issues with tarter on his teeth so finding healthy dental chews has been difficult. He got to try some cool potato based treats to help with his doggie breath the natural way.
