Long & Lean Prenatal Workout DVD

Long & Lean Prenatal Workout DVDNow that I am finally expecting baby #2 in late May I am working on keeping my growing body in shape. Being pregnant and keeping up your physical fitness is a daunting task when all you want to do is sleep.

I received a copy of Suzanne Bowen’s Long & Lean Prenatal Workout DVD to review for all of you. Even if you are not preggie, you can benefit from this workout routine. The DVD focuses on strengthening the mind, body and spirit through postural movement and flow.

The prenatal workout integrates cardio, strength and flexibility to help you stay fit and lean during your pregnancy. The dynamic flow of postural movements will burn calories, sculpt and tone the body and lengthen the muscles, helping you to achieve a long & lean physique during your pregnancy.

The DVD includes 3 segments: standing work, mat work and stretching work. You can choose one segment at a time, go for two of them or do all three, that is entirely up to you.

The standing workout is 20 minutes in length, the mat workout is 20 minutes in length and the stretching lasts for 10 minutes. There is a bonus 10 minute postnatal segment starring Leah Sarago also included on the DVD.

Since receiving it, I have been using the Mat and Stretching sections the most. I’ve had a hard time with “all day sickness” so I often don’t have energy to stand. As I gain more strength I will progress into the standing routine.

One of the things I really enjoy about the DVD is that there is a “music only” option. So, if you just want to workout to the music and nothing else, you can do so. I also appreciate that it flows well from one routine to the next. It is a great workout for beginners or for those who are experienced.  I like the “pace” of it too.

  2. This would be a nice gift for my daughter who does yoga and is now 3 months pregnant.

I’m not pregnant, but it does look like an interesting workout. I wonder if the non-standing part could be used for people who are disabled & can’t stand for long periods? It’s interesting to me for that reason.

  4. This looks like a great tape (DVD). I love how it would be focused on a pregnant body and not the “average” body.

Exciting to be expecting, right? Wish I had known about this some months back. My daughter is expecting her 3rd baby – almost a week late now! If there’s a baby #4, I’ll get this right away for her!

  7. Congrats Jenelle! Suzanne Bowen is one of the best and can’t go wrong with any of her DVDs. Pregnancy sure saps your energy and this should help. Sometimes it’s hard to take the first step but the stretching is so healthy for pregnancy. Thanks for the review.
