I have a huge project in front of me. I am getting new carpet put in, right now as we speak, and with that comes the fact that everything had to be boxed up and taken out of my living and dining area. The result is a beautiful clean living area that I hesitate to put anything back in. I am loving the clutter free area! But I have beautiful china I do love, so that will be going back.
However, I have been tossed back into my office this week as we boxed up the front area. My office has been neglected for several months because my computer was been down. I enjoyed working out front but do miss my space! The problem is that everything has been dumped into my office space. It is out of control!
I really need to put in place a system and clear out the clutter but I am at a loss of what works best. Do you have a yard sale and sell items or do you donate instead? I think I need to just donate stuff at this point to make some room.
Share your tips and tricks for powering through the clutter! My goal – that office space in the picture! Serene and clutter free! LOL In my dreams!
I actually love to organize areas. For me, doing away with all the clutter helps me start on those big projects or chores. I tend to donate items but also will sell some at my neighborhood garage sale.
I think there are some charities in my area that hold sales of donated product to raise money for their outreach programs. I think I am going to find one of them and see what they will take. Most of my items are in excellent condition! Plus I know my library will love me!
Do one section at a time. Try to put things away in a organized fashion so,that you can find the time if necessary. you can make a list on your computer of which items are in which inboxes or containers. Perhaps buy a bookcase or,shelving for your office area. Of course if you haven’ t used the item in years donate it.
I am in donation mode right now. In an apartment you can’t really do a yard sale but I hate the haggling and love to bless someone else with my junk anyway, lol.
We are having to put new flooring in downstairs which means boxing up and going through everything. Start in a corner and give yourself time. I’ve learned that, when you can, to take time; if you rush, you lose things or just throw in a box instead of really going through. I don’t want to wait for good weather or the hassle of a garage sale, I just donate. Help someone else and get it out of my house. We’ve found that if you leave bags of get rid of items around, you are less likely to keep working. You don’t see the progress and it’s hard to move around the “stuff.” Good luck to you!
I do both. Just did a multi family yard sales last weekend. What doesn’t sell I pack up and donate! Everyone wins!
