Easy Ground Beef Steak and Gravy Recipe

January 22, 2015 by Classystaff

Don’t you hate that time of day when you have to come up with something to make for dinner. I hate it! I understand why planning meals a week or so in advance work, but even then, sometimes I just say Ugh! LOL That is why I am a fan of easy to prepare meals that are wholesome and delicious too.

I pulled this ground beef steak and gravy recipe out of the hat a few nights ago. I had not made this in years and now I remember why my family loved it! So good and tasty and it comes together quickly too! I served it over egg noodles with a side of green beans and a salad. No leftovers on this one! Give it a try!
Easy Ground Beef Steak and Gravy Recipes

Easy Ground Beef Steak and Gravy Recipes

1 lb Ground Beef, formed into 3 or 4 patty’s
1/2 White Onion, sliced
1 Jar of Mushrooms, sliced or fresh buttons, sliced
2 Cups Water or Beef Broth, if avail – or use
2 Beef Bullion Cubes to make Beef Broth
Splash of Kitchen Bouquet
Garlic Powder
Lawrys Season Salt
Pepper
Onion Powder
Wondra Flour
*optional* Some people add a pat or two of butter to smooth out the gravy.

Directions: In a heavy skillet, season the meat and brown the patty’s. Add the sliced onion about half way through to brown and cook down. Once the meat is cooked to your desire, remove the meat to a platter.

Using the skillet, add the beef broth to your pan and use a whisk to get all of the brown parts up off of the bottom. Slowly sprinkle in the Wondra or flour and continue to whisk together to get to the consistency you like. Should be a bit on the thick side. Bring the gravy to a boil to thicken and remove any flour taste. Add mushrooms at the end and re-season using the same seasonings used on the meat, as needed.

Serve over noodles or with mashed potatoes and your favorite veggies.

This recipe sounds like a better version of Salisbury steak since the beef patty is unadulterated. The recipe would make a very comforting meal.

This sounds wonderful – true comfort food! I agree with you on hating to come up with dinner every night and not spend all afternoon doing it. We would all love this!

To make mine gluten free gravy, I add guar gum instead of flour. It’s tricky but I’m the only one who eats it that way, lol. This looks good.

Comfort food is right! You could also add a bit of sour cream to the gravy.

Now, that’s a classic, and something I haven’t made in ages. Yours looks so good, with those noodles–talk about comfort food! I’ll be keeping an eye out for a sale on beef to make this, for sure. Thanks.
