Grazing Quarter Horse in the Field

January 27, 2015 by Classystaff

When I first met my husband, he had two horses that he stabled not far from where he lived. He actually sold one to buy my engagement ring! We kept the other horse, had a filly, and then got another horse. Every weekend we would spend hours at the stables caring for the animals. I love horses and the ones we had were quarter-horses, just like this one in the picture. They are a beautiful breed, perfect for riding and family. We sold off the filly and the third horse but kept the original girl, Sissy, until she passed away from cancer about 8 years ago.

Grazing Quarter horse

This horse lives not far from us and belongs to the guy we purchased one of our horses from. I love driving by to see them grazing in the field and to check out the new babies, which a new batch will be born soon! Enjoy!!!

Beautiful horse! When I was a kid, I got to ride from time to time, but it has been decades since I’ve been lucky enough to pet one of those sweet velvet noses. Thanks for sharing this picture and your horse-history.

I love horse… magnificent animals. We had ponies as kidds and the last horse I had named Eli, I had to sell due to losing the barn in a tornado. He was at my Father in Laws farm, and although I loved Eli the barn wasnt going to be rebuilt. Hee was a great horse – bombproof and went to a great family with a young girl to love him. I still miss Eli and think of him often.

I just love horses! They are such beautiful creatures and I would love to own one. I had a friend that had one and I would ride her horse. That is nice that your husband bought you an engagement ring when he sold his horse.

Living just outside of Lexington, KY, we are in the middle of thoroughbred country, so horses are everywhere! I love driving that stretch of road where the big horse farms are! Such beautiful animals!

We used to ride horses on vacation, but I haven’t been on one in 40 years.

There were horses in a field behind my grandparent’s house. I loved to go out and watch them.

I would love to have a horse. They are so very beautiful and I would enjoy going for rides. I had a friend who had two horses. They were a ton of work, but a labor of love for sure.

Oh I just love horses. You must get some pics if you can, of the little ones once they’re born. I love looking at the Arabian horses on my Facebook feed now and then. So beautiful.

I’ve always wanted to own horses 🙂 They are such beautiful and powerful animals! One of my favorite things to do is to go horseback riding. I find it peaceful!

Aww so sweet about the engagement ring. We have tons of horses we see here in the south. They are always so pretty to look at!
