There’s something about sitting in a cozy chair, reading a book and enjoying a hot cup of tea, especially at this time of the year when the hustle and bustle of the holidays can take its toll. I was recently introduced to wonderful tasting Tulsi tea from Organic India. The Tulsi teas are delicious, organic, Non-GMO Project verified teas that are infused with a sacred Indian herb that helps lower stress, bolsters immunity, enhances stamina and promotes a healthy metabolism. There are 18 different flavors available and I gave three of them a try over the last few weeks—the Tulsi Honey Chamomile, Tulsi Raspberry Peach, and the Tulsi Lemon Ginger tea.

Organic India is a company that began working cooperatively with farms in northern India to grow Tulsi–otherwise known as Holy Basil– to create the company’s flagship tea, Original Tulsi Tea. Over time, the company contracted with more farmers and expanded the program to include other Indian herb, food and spice crops. The guiding principal of Organic India is to honor and protect the Earth by utilizing sustainable, organic and biodynamic agricultural practices and to provide a sustainable living for the farmers and tribes people they work with.
I enjoyed tasting all of the teas, but my personal favorite was the Raspberry Peach. It was flavorful, but not overpowering, and is caffeine-free (as most of the Tulsi teas are), so this is a cup of tea that is perfect for winding down after a long day. I really liked the natural taste and I especially love that all of the teas contained the Tulsi herb. Throughout India, this sacred herb is known for its healing power and is considered to be the “Queen of Herbs.”
Modern research has classified Tulsi as an adaptogenic herb, which has been shown to support the body’s natural immune system while relieving the body’s negative reaction to stress. Adaptogenic herbs have been used in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal medicines for thousands of years to promote and maintain wellness. With the addition of this herb, this tea can help the body adapt to environmental, physical and emotional stressors and restore balance.
Tulsi Teas include three varieties of Tulsi leaves: Rama, Vana, and Krishna. Each variety has a slightly different look, taste and smell and when combined, create a perfectly balanced herbal infusion with an array of health benefits including:
• Support for the immune system
• Increased stamina and endurance
• Relief and protection from everyday stress
• Abundant antioxidants
There are 18 tea bags in each box of the Tulsi tea and they cost less than $5.99 each, which is a great deal for such a quality product.
