Recently on Project Runway All Stars, Mary Kay® Global Makeup Artist Luis Casco was on hand to help the designers with the finishing touches for the notorious unconventional challenge: to create feminine fashion from masculine materials found on a construction site.
Luis drew inspiration from Audrey Hepburn to create this classically feminine cat-eyed look with a luminous, pearly finish.
Beautifully Unconventional:
* Using an angled brush, glide Mary Kay® Gel Eyeliner in Jet Black across upper lash line and extend the line outward to create as thick or thin a wing as you like. Finish with two coats of black mascara on upper and lower lashes.
* Apply Mary Kay® Facial Highlighting Pen in Shade 2 on the bridge of the nose, above the cheek bones and to the inner corners of eyes. Lightly pat the edges with your ring finger to blend.
* For a more pronounced highlight, mix Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color in Sparkling White with the highlighting pen to give the skin a beautiful, pearly –runway worthy effect!
Recently I received all three of those Mary Kay products to try out and review for all of you. If you have been following our blog for awhile now, You will already know that I absolutely LOVE Mary Kay.
I am a gel eyeliner type of girl. I switched over from eyeliner pencils about 5 years ago and haven’t looked back. Once you get used to a gel eyeliner, I think you will really love it. This particular gel eyeliner from Mary Kay is one of my ultimate favorites! It really will last all day long and it doesn’t budge once it has been applied. You can apply it easily with their angled brush and get a very thin line or go way out and do it thick for a striking bold look. That little pot will last you for months!
To be honest with you, I had never tried a highlighting pen until this review. Now that I have tried it, I will never be without. I tend to get redness high up on my cheekbones during the wintertime and dark circles underneath my eyes. This highlighting pen really helps to highlight those areas and make the redness and darkness fade away. Sure, not permanent but it does a great job at disguising those flaws.
Typically I wouldn’t go for an eye shadow in white but let me tell you, this eye shadow is the bomb diggity! It is a mineral eye shadow in a small compact. Very easy to apply. I love using it all over my eye lid which really brightens up my eyes. Sometimes I will apply a color to my lid and then use this white eye shadow as my highlighter…just depends on my mood and where I am going for the day.
In the past I have had issues with mineral cosmetics having “staying” power and needing to be reapplied throughout the day but I can honestly tell you that this one stays. Apply it in the morning and in the evening it is still there! That speaks to its amazing quality ladies!

I think for me the biggest issue in using eye products is ease of application and it does sound like these are simple to use. I have used Mary Kay products in the past and really liked them. Maybe time to try again.
Bomb diggity….Love it!!! 🙂 Sounds fun to try and play with. I like that you can do many looks with it and that it lasts. It’s awful to spend a lot of time on a look just to have it gone halfway through the day. I can’t wait to try the highlighting pen and my daughter will enjoy this, too. Sounds worthy of a try. Sometimes we get stuck using the same old makeup and never realize that a new approach is what we really need to feel better about how we look in the mirror!
I have never heard of gel eye liner but count me in. I have gotta try this stuff. I have like five different eye liners in my make up bag and I hate them all. I just can not seem to find the right one so I am going to try this thanks for sharing this one. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
