It is hard to believe but today is November 17th and the holidays are getting into full swing. Personally, I have been preparing for the upcoming Christmas holiday since late September and I am really looking forward to it this year.
Every year I look for something special that I can do with my 5 year old grand daughter to get her excited for the upcoming Christmas holiday. This year, Gia and I will be reading the Roaming Reindeer book and I am excited to tell you about it today.
Activity Set Objective: Parents use a storybook and two plush reindeer to encourage good behavior at Christmastime. When one reindeer goes missing, he’s off to tell Santa who’s been naughty and nice. This new family tradition comes in a keepsake box for its holiday season debut and means no more setting up elaborate Elf scenes at night. The set is made for children ages 4 and up.
Book Synopsis: Roaming Reindeer is centered on Gus and Sam, two of Santa’s reindeer who decide to help Santa by visiting little girls and boys to report back on who is naughty and who is nice. When the pair realize there isn’t enough time to visit all of the children, they call on their friends for help. The reindeers are sent off in pairs of two and are assigned a home to visit. Reindeer 1 is in charge of going back to Santa to report naughty children while Reindeer 2 stays to keep watch.
The Roaming Reindeer is a collectible hardcover book by author Angela Meju. The illustrations in the book are by Gau Family Studio and are just beautiful. Everything comes nicely packaged in a storage box so you can give it as a gift and use it year-after-year.
A few days ago I sat down with Gia and we read the book together. She is 5 1/2 years old and had no issues in reading the book to me plus she totally gets the concept and understands the story. By the time we were done, she was really excited about the upcoming Christmas holiday.
The 2 little plush reindeer are just adorable and they really bring to the story to life. Interactive story telling is always a fun activity to do with a child and it is one that always interests Gia. While she enjoys regular books, she much prefers ones that she can interact with.

We just finished reading it a few days ago and every week leading up to Christmas we will read it again together. I think this is a fun activity for parents and grand parents to do with children to help build excitement for the Christmas holiday.
