Relieving Pain with Topical Analgesics

November 14, 2014 by Shelly

I am a chronic pain sufferer. I have been suffering with chronic pain since I was 15 years old and I am now 47. Some days it is very unbearable and on other days…it is tolerable. Suffering in pain is not fun and it can completely make your life miserable.

Staying fit sometimes results in aches and pains and reaching for OTC pills is not always the healthiest solution. A better solution for pain management awaits with the availability of topical analgesic products in the form of creams, gels, sprays and patches.

By putting the medicine right at the site of pain, bypassing the stomach and liver, Salonpas can use less medicine to deliver an effective dose. “When people self-medicate with over-the-counter oral pain pills, they can ingest inappropriate doses and run the risk of potential drug interactions, which can lead to unintended or unsuspected dangerous side effects, some of which can be as serious as liver failure or heart damage,” says Dr. Sylvia Hesse, a New York based orthopedic medicine specialist. “By relying on topical analgesic gels, sprays and patches for pain relief – without the use of pills – you can be assured of making a safer choice.”

Salonpas Topical Analgesics

Recently I received a full product suite from Salonpas which includes the Salonpas DEEP Relieving Gel, Salonpas Pain Relief Patch, Salonpas Pain Relieving GEL-Patch HOT-L, and Salonpas Pain Relieving Jet Spray.

One of the things I love about the Salonpas products is the fact that they are available in many different forms. There are gels, sprays and patches. If you are on-the-go a lot and don’t have a lot of time to apply a product then go for the patches. If you love the feeling of sprays and lotions on your body, you can use those!

Hubby and I both suffer with chronic back pain. In addition, he suffers with chronic knee pain and I suffer with chronic hip pain following my total hip replacement that I had last year. Trust me, we know about pain!

Reaching for pills is easy. But along with that comes tummy upset, intestinal problems, etc. Getting an analgesic into your body by bypassing your GI tract is a wonderful thing!

Hubby has been using the Salonpas Patches on his back or his knee ever since we received the products. He loves that he sticks on the patch and goes about his day. They are great for temporary relief of sore muscles, sprains, backaches and joint pain. No one knows the patch is on underneath his clothes! Each patch can give him relief for 8-12 hours so he doesn’t have to worry about popping pills throughout his day.

I’ve been enjoying the Salonpas Deep Relieving Gel which is a topical analgesic that lasts up to 8 hours. It contains 3 powerful pain fighting ingredients, it is fast-acting, fast-absorbing, clear and non-greasy. It is for ages 12 and up and can be applied 3-4 times a day. It won’t stain your clothing either! I have been applying it to my lower back, hip, foot and shoulder and getting great relief.

We have used other topical analgesics over the years and hated them all. Many had foul odors that gassed you out for hours, stained your clothes or just weren’t effective at relieving our pain. Well, that has all changed now thanks to Salonpas and their fantastic products! We love them and will be customers once our complimentary supply runs out!

I hurt my lower back in a w/c injury and before it slipped the disc I use the little green pads, they were great and then I used the larger ones along with the spray, but after the back surgery I now use the spray and the pads a lot more. They really help me cause I am a nurse and I work some long days and they are the life saver for me. I also use the spray on my left foot ankle area due to the injury to the nevers in my left leg.love all their produts.

My family could really use these. My husband works on cars so his back is always hurting plus his hands break out. My daughter was just diagnosed with some health issues and sits on a heating pad and puts a gel on her chest. This would be great for her to try.

I would use these to combat the nasty cluster headaches I get about 1once a month or so, which includes a lot of muscle pain in my neck and shoulder. My hubby would use these when his injured knee acts up. Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

I would use the Salonpas patch for knee pain, and perhaps for neck pain. I would use the gel, lotion and spray for hand, wrist arthritis and the neck and knees again..

I use a lot of topicals and just deal with pain rather than take something that affects my whole body and organs. I’d use it on my back and when I workout my legs too much at times, it would be great.
