My Dad is Scrooge Holiday Movie on DVD
Looking for a new holiday movie for the entire family? I was happy to check out a new release and share it with you.
Synopsis: Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Charles Shaugnessy (The Nanny), and Bonnie Wright (Harry Potter franchise) lend their voice talent to the holiday movie My Dad is Scrooge, taking A Christmas Carol and turning it into “A Christmas Corral” as the animals of Woodsley Farm help siblings Oliver and June stage the classic tale in an effort to convince their dad to embrace the spirit of the holidays.. Oliver and June are prepping for their mom’s Christmas pageant, but their dad EB (Brian Cook) has lost his love for Christmas. The kids see the worst of EB’s Scrooge-like behavior when he takes them to the Woodsley Farm only to serve the owners a foreclosure notice. All seems lost until Oliver is awakened to all of the Woodsley Farm animals in his room—and much to his surprise, talking! Oliver, June, and the animals work together to use the classic tale of A Christmas Carol to get back the farm and help EB believe in Christmas once again!
My Thoughts: My Dad is Scrooge was a delight. I very much enjoyed this movie. It had some funny moments throughout, as well as some emotional parts that hit right in the feelings.
I love the holidays, and Christmastime is one of my favorites. I enjoy the cheer most people get and the beautiful lights. Unfortunately, EB thought the opposite, that it was false cheer and that Christmas ‘was for suckers’. Sadly, nowadays, there are many adults who behave the same way. He even took his kids to do a notice for a foreclosure, which was harsh, but at least the animals knew who to go to for help. All the animals were adorable, and almost every voice recognizable.
EB’s behavior was taking a toll on his kids, and his marriage. I was glad to see that Oliver and June did their best to help EB get back into the Christmas spirit. Finding out why EB disliked the holidays was sad, and it made his personality almost understandable. I thought Oliver, June, and the animals weren’t going to be successful, especially when EB found out what was truly happening, but I am very happy they were.
They got help from all the animals, and a friend (and EB’s ex-business partner) Manny. Manny was hilarious and truly my favorite character. He had loads of funny moments and his light-hearted as well as charitable personality made him a great opposite character of EB.
This movie is great for all the family to see. I recommend it for those who love the story of A Christmas Carol with a furry twist, and especially for those who are in need of holiday cheer.
