project runwayHow many of you watch the hit television show “Project Runway?” Personally, I do not watch it but my sister is a big fan! A few weeks ago Mary Kay Global makeup artist Luis Caso created a “faux tan” look on Project Runway.

As you may have seen on that particular episode of “Project Runway,” the designers were challenged to create a New York Fashion Week street look. Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist Luis Casco created a great faux tan makeup look to perfectly complement one of the winning fashion designs!

The faux tan look is universally flattering for all seasons and women of all skin tones. Follow Luis’ three simple steps to keep you glowing year-round!

For a natural faux tan look, the key is to apply the perfect combination of blush and bronzer.

1. Blush

* Use brush to apply blush on cheeks and any areas the sun would naturally hit.

* Luis’ insider tip: “My little secret is to use a blush with some pink in it.” Luis’ favorite blush color is Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush.

2. Bronzer

* Choose a bronzer with a matte and shimmery effect like Mary Kay Bronzing Powder.

* Apply bronzing powder right over blush to get the famous “J. Lo glow.” Also apply to the neck area.

* Keep the look blended and natural by using a high-quality brush for application. Gradually layer on bronzer to get a gorgeous sun-kissed glow.

3. Finishing Touch

* Set the glowing look with Mary Kay Translucent Powder. Apply to any areas prone to oiliness like the T-zone and all over the face to set makeup.

My Thoughts: I received the Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush, the Bronzing Powder in Light-Medium, the Bronzing Powder in Medium-Dark and the Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder to review for all of you. In other words…to create my own “faux” tan look!

Regarding the Mineral Cheek Color…I really love the Shy Blush shade which I think is a good shade for every skin tone. It is very easy to apply via a blush brush and gives your cheeks a pretty rosy glow. I like that it doesn’t have any orange or red undertones to it which would make it look completely unnatural. It is now my “go to” blusher!

I got 2 different shades of the bronzing powder for the review but the medium-dark was way too dark for my skin tone. I am going to give it to my sister when I see her as she is always much more tanner than I am. Anyway, the bronzing powder in light-medium is a great shade for me and it even looked nice on my mother who is a tad lighter than me. Once applied, it does give your skin that sun-kissed bronzed glow!

The Translucent Loose Powder can be used all over your face to set your makeup when you are done or just put it on to help control oiliness. I use it all over my face to set my makeup and during the afternoon when I start seeing some “oiliness” I like to touch myself up. Using a powder like this helps to set your makeup so that you don’t have to reapply it throughout the day and helps you to not sweat it off in heat.

Overall, I am really impressed with the quality of these Mary Kay products and look forward to using them some more.
