United States of America: Air Force One

November 18, 2014 by Classystaff

I live in a town that has a closed Air Force Base that was huge in its heyday. Now it is home to a big Air Museum that has loads of cool air planes from years of military aviation history. Castle Air Museum was lucky to win a bid last year to add a retired Air Force One plane to their collection. This plane is recorded as having once flown former Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton as well as several former first ladies; Rosalynn Carter, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush. It also also served all vice presidents from Walter Mondale, George H.W. Bush, Dan Quayle, Al Gore and Dick Cheney. It is pretty cool.

A few weeks ago, they moved the plane to its final display place on the museum property. Here is a picture of Air Force One next to a famed SR-71 Blackhawk. If you enjoy military planes, check this out next time you are in California.

I think it would be so fascinating to tour this plane. I know this would be of interest to my entire family. Thanks for letting us know about it.

I think that being able to go on these planes is a nfun way to review their history and could also be a lot of fun for any family trip.

It’s great that the old Air Force base has found a second life. And an interesting one, at that! Is the retired Air Force One open for tours, or can you just see it from the outside? Either way, it’s pretty cool.

Wow! What a site to see. My husband and son would love it. My son is preparing for his pilot’s license and love to look at planes. What a plane to have near you!

I love military airplanes, especially from WWII. I’ll have to take a trip to this museum and check it out.
