** 2014 Holiday Gift Guide **
I love watching all of the holiday television specials and holiday movies during this time of the year. By watching them, it is a great way to build excitement for the upcoming holidays and to get into the holiday spirit.
Just in time for Christmas is a brand new DVD release called Santa’s Magic Toy Bag (available for purchase on October 21st, 2014). Beloved holiday specials not seen since their original 80’s TV broadcast showcase the Puppeteering & voice talents of Alf’s Paul Fusco. This is a unique chance for families & children to discover them again for the first time!
The First to be released in the series is this new DVD called Santa’s Magic Toy Bag. In Santa’s Magic Toy Bag, Christmas is bustling, festive and exciting for Santa, Mrs. Claus and all the Elves at the north pole. Sherman, an aspiring elf, tries his best to fit in but can’t seem to do anything right! He’s worked in nearly every department at the North Pole and has triggered a series of disasters everywhere he goes.
Santa tries to bolster Sherman’s self-esteem by entrusting him with the special task of guarding his Magic Toy Bag until Christmas Eve. When Sherman accidentally shrinks the bag by washing it, he fears there might not be a Christmas this year…Unless the accident-prone Elf can finally make things right!
The DVD features an original holiday soundtrack and the voice & puppet talents of Paul Fusco. Coming soon will be the second release called “The Valentine’s Day That Almost Wasn’t” so look for that one in a few weeks.
Our Thoughts: We sat down with our 5 1/2 year old grand daughter and watched Santa’s Magic Toy Bag during one of our family movie nights. Now that she is older, she gets all excited about the holidays and this DVD grew that excitement tenfold!
The Puppeteering is absolutely fantastic and they just draw you in…plus, the puppets are super cute! I had never seen this story before and I thought it was pretty good…definitely will hold a child’s attention for sure. As adults, we all know how the story ends and let me tell you, Miss Gia was very concerned there would be no Christmas until she saw the ending of the show. Ha! It amazes me how little kids get super excited about things like this!
Overall, we give it a 7 1/2 stars out of 10 stars on our entertainment scale. I think it is super cute and it’s quality entertainment for the little ones.
