Getting Organized Thanks to Scotch Dry Erase and Chalkboard Tape

September 13, 2014 by Shelly

Getting Organized Thanks to Scotch Dry Erase and Chalkboard TapeFor the past few months I have been trying to get everything organized here in our home. Believe it or not, I still have boxes upon boxes that need to be unpacked from when we moved in here back in January of 2013. Trust me, 3 rooms in our new home are NOT pretty right now and mainly are being used as storage until I can get everything unpacked  & organized.

Recently I was introduced to the new Scotch Chalkboard Tape and the new Scotch Dry Erase Tape and wow…I was immediately in-love! Yes, in-love with the tape!

These tapes feature an adhesive that removes cleanly & easily. They are very easy to use: Just cut, peel and stick! You can use them on all kinds of different surfaces around your home or use them in various craft projects.

For the review I received 1 roll of each of the two different tapes, a dry erase marker, an eraser and a box of chalk so that I could get started on my various projects right away. Yay!

Here are a few ideas of how to use the new tapes:

* Refrigerator Dry Erase Board – Don’t have a magnetic fridge? Simply lay a few strips of the Scotch Dry Erase Tape on your refrigerator and keep an ongoing grocery list!

* Menu Planning Chalkboard – Add a little café ambience to your kitchen while sensibly planning your family dinners for the week. Just cover the glass of a picture frame with Scotch Chalkboard Tape, place it safely back in the frame and display it so everyone can check out what’s for dinner.

* Seasonal Storage – Get more mileage out of your storage bins by using the Scotch Dry Erase or Chalkboard Tapes to make seasonal organizing labels. Time to pull out the fall clothes and pack-up the summer wardrobe? Just erase the label and reuse!

Getting Organized Thanks to Scotch Dry Erase and Chalkboard Tape

To get started, I used the new Scotch Dry Erase Tape to make a little sign for my front door. We just had our entryway porch repainted and are doing work in the entryway and wanted guests to start using our side door until we are done. I simply cut off a strip of the Scotch Dry Erase Tape, wrote my message on it and stuck it directly onto the window glass.

I have also been using it on disposable plastic food storage containers and love it for that! We often visited people and/or attend get-togethers. I take food with me and put it in those plastic storage containers. I don’t want them back and tell people to just toss then when done. However, everyone likes to reuse them. I have been making labels for the lids with the inside contents and when emptied out, they simply erase what I wrote and relabel them for their own use.

Getting Organized Thanks to Scotch Dry Erase and Chalkboard Tape

The Scotch Chalkboard Tape is one of my new best friends! Seriously, I love that stuff! You write-on it with standard chalk, erase with a tissue, cloth or eraser. You can do this over and over again! I decided that I needed a little chalkboard on the inside of my pantry door. I simply cut strips of the Chalkboard Tape and made a little board so that the family can write on it when they use the last item that is normally kept in my pantry. When I get ready to go grocery store shopping, I can look at the chalkboard & add those items to my shopping list. Cool beans! I love that it is inside the pantry door and no guests can see it. Clean & neat!

My husband made himself a little chalkboard using that Tape from Scotch and placed it in his work shed. Now he jots down measurements on it or things that he needs to pick up at the home improvement store.

As I get more free time, I am going to be using up both of those rolls of  Tape to help myself get better organized around my home. I love that they are super easy to use & they peel off the surface cleanly!!!

What a great product — I’ve never heard of this before. I’m thinking of all kinds of things I could use this for.

You can’t beat 3M! They are terrific! I have seen it before, but did not realize it was 3M. This would be the answer to writing on totes(that are NOT see thru), you can change the tags when you change the contents of the bin! I will also check out their site, it has been a long time since I have been there. Thanks for the heads up!!!

I MUST get both of these ASAP. I’m constantly trying to label everything because I’m just one of those people who can’t help it, so this would greatly assist me since I could reuse labels without having to go to so much trouble.

Both of these new tapes would be very useful for packing, storing, labeling ,etc. I love that one is reusable and they pull off easily.

Both of these tapes would be put to good use in our house, for sure. I love your idea for using it inside the cabinet door–I have all sorts of things taped there, from ingredient proportions for pie crust and vinaigrette to the instructions cut from a box of Minute tapioca. Thanks for your review!

Oh my. I’m a duct tape fan too and love these new products. Thanks for the intro and I will look for them. I pinned a bunch of DIY duct tapes projects from the Scotch site too. They even have a dog collar!
