Cute Ghost Theme’d Halloween Decorations

Halloween lighted wood ghostsWhen I go into stores now I am seeing a slew of Halloween, Thanksgiving and even Christmas items all over the place! I was out shopping yesterday and got some new Halloween indoor decor and several new Halloween yard items for this year.

Plus, hubby is reviewing some cool outdoor Halloween lights (that blog post coming later this month) so today, I wanted to talk about Halloween.

How early is too early to start decorating inside your home? What about outside? Do you do them at the same time? Do you do just a little bit, a lot or none at all?

For me, I usually do mine at the end of September and we are “moderate” when it comes to decorating. I don’t go overboard with it though and “witches” and “devils” are completely off limits here. I don’t do evil or really spooky…but I do what I call “fun” Halloween decorating. I don’t want to “scare” the little ones when they come to visit…just entertain them.

Yesterday when I was out shopping, I picked up those adorable lighted wooden ghosts that you see in the photo. They are a lot taller than what they look like in that photo. Their eyes light up which is cool. We also got lighted pumpkins and will be placing both of them on our front porch with a Halloween & Fall display that I am working on.

Your ghosts look great – They are not scary and as you said I don’t want to frighten the children – just entertain them.We don;t do much outside- just some things in the windows . I don’t want to start decorating fr any pf the holiday more than a month in advance. It seems to me that the advertising for each holiday gets earlier each year.

Love the ghosts. It’s really unique and fun that the eyes light up a purple color. I do a fall/Halloween decorations for our front porch. I tend to start when the weather changes; normally, that is late September but this year we’ve already had lots of cooler weather and gotten a taste of fall. I just went to a couple stores to get ideas and shop some sales. Wreaths at 60% off had me buying an autumn colored wreath and putting it on my front door. That lead to me wanting to decorate for Halloween now so I just started.

I don’t mind the stores having Halloween out, but I was saddened by seeing the Christmas trees already. I can’t believe how close we are. The radio is talking about how many days and what are the hot toys. I know we have to plan early, and I’ve already bought some Christmas but I think each holiday needs it’s time and thought. Don’t just look over Thanksgiving. It’s important and a good reminder to us all to be Thankful. At least, they aren’t playing Christmas carols….yet. 🙂

  3. I decorate for Halloween in the end of September. I do not think that it is too early. But I do not do witches and devils in my decorations either! I love your Ghost Wooden Decoration. It is so cute! But I do not think that they should have any Christmas stuff out yet! It is too early!

  4. Congrats to the winners. I consider it fall since we had a bit of snow last week and the days are getting shorter. So I like fall decorations.

  5. GREAT Topic! I don’t even know where to begin….. It upsets me when I see Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations already in the stores it just takes away from the Holiday for me it is like they are making it less meaningful somehow each year. I think three weeks to a month is okay to decorate for Halloween. It’s the people who leave their decoration out and don’t take them down that make me crazy!!!!!! Don’t even get me started on Christmas lights on houses year round!

I like to decorate cute and fun for Halloween and I TOTALLY AGREE with you NO EVIL!!!!! Some of the Halloween decorations in the store scare me they sure are way different from when I was a kid why don’t they just put up 666 signs and get it over with!!! I used to live next door to this “couple” and the only time of the whole year that they decorated was for Halloween – creepy!!!!

It should be fun for the kids and the adults too. Thanks you for the wonderful necklace I am just thrilled to have won it and congratulations to the other winner.

  6. I love your wooden ghosts! Never too early to think about Halloween since there is so much to prepare. I’m into the scary food and costumes (been pinning like crazy, those Halloween ideas). Especially if you plan to make your costume, it can take months. I don’t do anything outside though.

A huge thank you to the Chics and Sioux City Watch Co. for a most awesome prize and congrats Heather too!

    • They are super cute! The lighted stacked pumpkins are cute too! Once we get everything decorated inside & out…I will share photos!
