One of My Favorite Summertime Ice Cream Memories

One of my favorite memories from my childhood happen to be centered around ice cream. Yes, ice cream!

Every summer my family would head down to the Jersey Shore. We loved to hang out on the beach or go out into the water for some boating or fishing. Matter of fact, we still go to the Jersey Shore every year!

During one particular summer when we were down at the Jersey Shore my brother and I were sitting on the dock enjoying our ice cream that we had just gotten from the local ice cream truck. About 2 minutes after we sat down a big flock of seagulls came by and basically dive-bombed for our ice cream.

My brother and I were totally freaked out and to get away from them we jumped into the water with our good dress clothes on! I think I was around 13 and he was around 11 at the time.

After the seagulls devoured our ice cream, we got out of the water and headed back home. We were shaking & afraid our mother was going to chew us out for getting all wet & ruining our clothes. We were nervous to tell her what had happened!!!

We walked inside and told mom what had happened and she “cracked up” laughing…hysterically I might add. She thought it was so funny but funnier yet was a little sand crab stuck in the pocket of my dress! Oh my gosh!

To this day…the family cracks up hearing this story. You had to be there to see the events & the looks on our faces when we walked inside claiming that we were attacked by seagulls who wanted our ice cream. I mean really, who would believe that? True story folks!

Well, if you love ice cream you no longer have to wait around for that local ice cream truck to visit your neighborhood. The Unilever ice cream brands (Magnum, Breyers, Klondike, Frutare, and Popsicle) are available at Walgreens.

What kind of ice cream do you enjoy? Do you have any favorite ice cream memories from your childhood? Adulthood? I would love to hear all about it!
