Our skin is our biggest organ and we need to make sure that we take care of it properly. Women’s skin is different from guys skin and we often see signs of aging a bit quicker than a man will. Women are also prone to over scrutinizing ourselves too, which can cause skin aging anxiety! I know that I watch for changes in my skin and work towards improving it every chance I can.
One product that is often talked about when it comes to skin care is scrubs. There are scrubs for the face and for the body and we will look at the differences here as well as answer the often asked question.
How Often Should You Exfoliate for Best Results
Exfoliating the skin is good for your skin. It removes dead skin cells that allows your new skin to shine through. People often see immediate results after exfoliating due to the glowing, soft skin that looks and feels wonderful. One problem that can occur is that you use a scrub too often. Over exfoliating can damage your new skin and that will cause a tender face that is overly sensitive to the elements and to products. For best results, exfoliating no more than two times a week is sufficient for beautiful skin.
So what type of scrub should you be using? There are two types of products that are used often in scrubs – sea salt and sugar. When it comes it comes to facial scrubs, you will see micro beads or things like oatmeal, coffee, etc. They all have the same concept. Using natural products to gently “scrub” the skin.
The difference in these products is that you need to be very careful in what you apply to your face. Sea Salt scrubs are awesome on the skin but may not be generally used on the face unless the crystals of salt are finely ground. Remember your facial skin is tender and big chunks of salt could scratch. Sugar scrub are more often used in facial scrubs for this reason. Because you are in effect scrubbing your skin clean, make sure your product is gentle and finely ground for best results.
Many scrubs also come loaded with moisturizers to help calm the skin and treat it right after exfoliating. Look for scrubs that address your particular skin type – sensitive, dry, oily, etc. You will love the results so much more.
Exfoliating your skin is an affordable and easy way to brighten your skin and feel great about it too. And it is not just for women only! Share your exfoliating tips with us.

I am very bad about exfoliating my skin and I need to do it more often. Thanks for the tips and the reminder.
I am the worlds worst at exfolioating my skin and know I should be doing it and more often. I have tried sugar scrubs and like them but honestly just forget. Being older I aam seeing small dry patches which is normal and I need to get on it.
I often forget too until I see my skin looking blah then once quick scrub and it looks and feels great! I keep a jar in the shower for this reason.
Thanks for the info. I am over 60, and my skin is just starting to really show it. I have been mistaken for much younger, until now. I am starting to look at home made products, and this was a help.
Thanks for the tips. I didn’t realize that you could exfoliate twice a week. We do so much to our skin to damage it we need to repair also. I have tried the do it at home exfoliation with olive oil and sugar, and it seems to work pretty well. I know buying gives you extra benefits so it’s always nice.
I need to take better care of my skin. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for the great information. I love to use sugar scrubs and I usually get them at Bath and Body Works. I love the way my skin looks and feels after I exfoliate it.
