Family Movie Night: ACE WONDER

ACE WONDER Movie DVDHubby and I are huge movie buffs but in addition to that, we always have our nieces & nephews over to our home for family movie nights. Since we are empty nesters now, we enjoy their company & their parents enjoy the break from their kids.

During a recently family movie night we had the chance to review a copy of the new movie called ACE WONDER by Vertical Entertainment. It will be available for purchase starting on August 19th on DVD.

Movie Synopsis: A typical day in Willow, pouring rain. It always rains in times like this. A man told me that heaven was crying that day. Maybe so. But heaven’s tears were cold. So many stories begin with a dead man, it’s become a cliche. A dark alley, a smoking gun and a thousand lingering memories remain to haunt us. But this time, there was no smoking gun, no dark alley, only those unanswered questions. It might have frightened the average kid, but not me. I live for this sort of thing. My name’s Ace Wonder, P.I. and I’m about to take on my first real case.

Our Thoughts: We invited our 13 and 16 year old nephews over for this particular movie night. I didn’t have our 5 year old grandchild here who I felt would of been too young to enjoy this movie.

Ace Wonder, P.I. was struggling to find a storyline for his latest crime novel on a rainy day. He is 10 years old and loves to write and solve mysteries. However, his new storyline fell right into his lap when he stumbled upon his real first case which he is really excited about.

He embarks on a sleuthing adventure that helps repair a bad relationship between a father & son who must face a haunting family mystery. The two become fast friends and take the adventure together to help solve the mystery which is filled with intrigue, espionage and danger at every turn. He is basically a “mini” Sherlock Holmes!

Do they solve the mystery? Do they figure out this “who done it?” Well, of course they do, but I am not going to tell you how they solve it and who did it! Shucks, I know…I am not giving away the plot!

Overall, it was a pretty entertaining movie and the boys really enjoyed it. I do NOT think toddlers or preschoolers would get into this movie at all, so I would say that it is best suited for kids ages 8 and up. Just my 2 cents on that.
