Good morning everyone! Welcome to our Tuesday daily topic for discussion. I am glad to see that many of you are participating in these topics.
Today’s Question: When we are all teenagers or little kids…we kind of have an idea of what kind of career that we want when we are adults. For me…I had always wanted to be a nurse.
I would like to know how many of you are working at your dream job? Was this always the type of job/career that you wanted? Did you follow your “career” dreams or did you eventually do something else? If you could change anything in your career path, what would it be?
As I previously stated, I had always wanted to be a nurse and I became a nurse. I worked in the healthcare field for 9 years before I retired from it due to health reasons. We have numerous doctors, nurses, vets, etc. in our family so my family tends to gravitate towards the medical field.

My niece just graduated and passed her exam and is now a nurse. I am so proud of her! She has always wanted to be in the medical field while growing up and is still very happy with her choice. I have always wanted to be a veterinarian. The only schools that offered this, when I was younger, unfortunately were in other states. Being very close to my family I never could find the courage to go. I eventually went to school to be an accountant and worked doing that for many years and enjoyed it.
Yay! I’m a winner, and of a fun prize, too! Thank you.
On a more somber note, I hope your niece is doing well, considering her situation. As I’ve said before, I’m keeping a good thought for her and for her extended family–including you. So sad.
I am retired from working but ended up spending 35 years in nursing doing all kinds of things. It wasn’t what I always wanted to do but I needed to know that I could always support myself and my family and then it was easier to continue on than to change. Plus I didn’t know what else I wanted to do and had a family of kids to raise.
Congratulations winners.
It’s hard as children, teens, and even adults to know what you want “to do with your life.” Some kids are dead certain all through school only to change their mind once they start college. I hope college is a time people can use to explore and learn…maybe even find themselves or maybe they will change their mind even after school. It’s important no matter what you do that you focus and feel good about it and that you have a good support system. Thank you for being a nurse. That takes a special person!
