Stop Summer Bugs with the Raid Defense System

July 14, 2014 by Classystaff

I hate bugs. It is no secret in this house that I do not do bugs of any kind. Ant, Flies, Roaches – Oh heck no! But every summer I have to deal with ants. I honestly think my house was built on an ant hill seeing how most of the ground here is sand and clay. I would not be surprised – reclaimed desert or ocean floor. I was so happy to be able to check out the Raid Home Defense system that I was sent for review. It is helping me take back control of my house!

I remember the first time, vividly, when I realized our new home was going to have ant issues. We had come home from vacation not long after we moved into our new home we had built. It was late in the evening when we rolled in, and I went into the kitchen and flipped on the light. The entire section above my stove and cabinets was black. I could not fathom what was going on, being tired and all. Then I realized the wall was moving. Needless to say, I screamed and hubby came running. It was a flying ant infestation! I was freaking out! We soon found where they came in and dealt with it immediately. But with new construction, there always seemed to be another place ants got in – not the flying ones, thank God! Since then, treating the outdoors and inside was a must.

Most of my problems went away when I had hardwood floors installed but every so often, like this year especially, we get ants. I get them in the kitchen area and by the pool mainly although they have popped up in other areas of the house. I was happy to see the large array of different products that Raid offers. It allowed me to take control of specific areas that needed attention. The Raid Defense System products I used are:

Raid® Max Ant & Roach– kills bugs on contact and keeps killing with residual action for up to six months
Raid® Ant Gel– can be discreetly applied in hard-to-reach cracks and crevices and away from children and pets
Raid Max® Bug Barrier– keeps killing German cockroaches for up to 12 months and can be used both indoors and outdoors
Raid Max® Bug Barrier Defense Marker™– has a precision tip that draws a clear line of protection to help keep bugs out of your home
RAID ANT Gel
Around the food areas, it can be hard to treat for ants and other bugs without having to spray everything. I was happy to see specific items for the hard to reach cracks. The Raid® Ant Gel was perfect! It comes in a little tube that allows you to dispense small drops of product, right where you need it. The ants like the taste, come out and get some and within a few hours they have taken it back to the nest or wherever they have come from! Ants gone!

My pantry is a favorite place for the ants to come in. There is a tiny space in the top of the ceiling that they come in. We were able to use the Gel and the Raid® Max Ant & Roach Spray to place the barrier up and get rid of them! Problem Solved indoors!

My pool area has a lot of ants too, especially around the lip of the pool and sometimes the barbeque area. The Raid® Max Ant & Roach spray was great for getting rid of them fast. I loved the Raid Max® Bug Barrier Defense Marker™ and the Raid Max® Bug Barrier since I could use those to apply barriers around my doors and windows in the back yard and front so ants and roaches would not try and get into my home that way. Plus I ran the Barrier Defense Marker around the problem areas by the pool deck and barbeque. Problem Solved!

Around my windows, the Raid Defense Marker is the perfect product to use. It comes in a slender tube with a sponge top so all you need to do is depress the sponge tip on the areas you want to protect. Out comes the product and you create your barrier. I used it on my window ledges and around my window frames to seal out the ants. It was easy!

These products are easy to use and effective. I like that these items in the defense system last for up to 6 months or longer, depending on the product. I can easily treat my home with a system that will keep the nasty bugs out of my home and outside where they belong!
