I am really upset about something I saw over the holiday weekend at a local Walmart. First let me say this…I rarely go into Walmart but I had to go there for something specific that I am doing. Anyway, here is what happened.
My BFF and I go into Walmart on Saturday afternoon and were in the housewares section of the store. A lady with a 4 or 5 year old in her shopping cart along with her adult female friend came up behind us.
The preschooler is sitting in the shopping cart with the mom’s cellphone listening to rap music with sexually explicit lyrics and is singing out loud…really loud! The mother and her girlfriend are laughing hysterically thinking this is cute & funny. Say what??? Are you serious???
There is NOTHING cute or funny about a preschooler singing about sex, going down on a girlfriend, and all of that jazz. Matter of fact, it is disgusting and totally inappropriate!!!
We were so disgusted, we walked out of the aisle and down another one…only to be followed by these 2 women (if you want to call them that). Again, this rap music is blaring from the cellphone & the preschooler is continuing to sing these lyrics while these two hose bags laugh & think it’s funny. Not so!!!
While as adults you have EVERY right to listen to whatever music that you like…you do NOT have the right to expose small children to it and then encourage those small children to sing those sexually explicit music lyrics because YOU think it is funny, cute and cool. It’s disgusting PEOPLE!!!
I was completely mortified with seeing this!!! What is wrong with this younger generation of parents? When hubby and I were younger and our daughter was a child…we didn’t listen to anything offensive in her presence. When alone we would, but NOT in her presence! This is just wrong on so many levels!
Thanks for listening to my gripe. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Congratulations to the two winners.
Reading this one made me just sick to my stomach! There has got to be some kind of a law against this. This is child abuse on some level. My parents never played adult music or showed anything on the television that was adult while I was growing up and I thank them for that. Childhood is such an innocent magical time and HO BAGS like the ones you guys ran into in Chinamart are this problem! I sometimes have to go into that “store” too but I hate it when I do. We need jobs in America!!! I agree with you 1000% on this one! This world is getting sicker and sicker!
I totally agree Heather! I am still disgusted by what we saw and it has been 2 1/2 days later! That woman shouldn’t be a mother and you should of SEEN how she was dressed! OMG…she looked like a street walker and had way too much skin showing!!!
OH I can just picture it! PLEASE tell me if you know….. What the hell ever happened to dressing AGE APPROPRIATE in this country????? I worked with someone in her mid fifties who “thought” she was hot and dressed like she was 21 it made everyone ILL. Then… the other day, I was at the grocery store waiting in line at the register and there was this grandmother in front of me with her two granddaughters. The girls were maybe six and seven years old, they were tall with long legs and they were both wearing tiny tiny tiny short dresses that just barely covered their rear ends. There was this creepy guy behind me in line who was totally ogling them I felt like smacking him in the face!!!!!!!
Back to the music though…. I used to be a pretty wild child growing up but it seems I have done a total 180 in my older age!!! I am totally appalled with the EVIL SICK CRAP that is on the radio and being sold in stores and online. I have totally given up listening to the radio. I either listen to my Christian radio station, one old old country station, my safe cd’s or an audio book. I can not even imagine what this earth is going to be like in 100 years they way things are going.
When I am at the salon, it FREAKS me out to see these super young girls who are already mothers and are covered in face piercings and tattoos and who let their babies crawl around on the dirty floor expecting everyone else to watch them. This one “girl” looked to be about 6-7 months pregnant and went tanning!!!! I thought I was going to TOTALLY FREAK OUT!!!!! I told the owner about it I’m not sure what the law is on that but come on!! Oh she left her OTHER two other kids out in the waiting room while she went tanning so the rest of us could watch over them!! A REAL Mother of the Year There!!!!!!
I LOVE YOUR POSTS LIKE THIS ONE!!!!! God Bless you.
We saw this 8 month pregnant woman while we were on vacation standing outside of a restaurant we were entering smoking a cigarette! Yes…8 months preggie and smoking away! That is just wrong on so many levels! Obviously, she doesn’t deserve children if she is going to smoke. Then to top it all off, when we got ready to leave (after our meal) she was sitting at the bar sneaking sips from her boyfriends/husband’s beer! Wow!!!
This world is going nuts! I don’t know what is wrong with people. I am NOT a prude at all. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I can be pretty wild & obnoxious at times. However, I don’t endanger my life, the life others and I certainly am NOT a bad influence on young children!
You are so right! And as you said, this is wrong on so many levels, starting with the child even having a phone in its hands, being loud, and on and on and on. Coincidentally my husband and I just went to a Walmart this morning because we couldn’t find what we wanted anywhere else. We hate Walmart for so many reasons, and unfortunately some of the people are indeed “Walmartians.”
I despise Walmart!!! I had to go there because a company that I am doing a review for sent me a Wallyworld GC to go pick up the item that I need for the review. I think I go to Wallyworld once a year if that. I hate that store & everything it represents!
Sadly that is a been there done that situation. And like you it really pisses me off to no end! Every time I see or hear it I just wish there was some way for me to report them for child abuse or neglect. Or for just being stupid ass people who should never have been allowed to reproduce. Argh…
I had a similar experience decades ago. I was at my then-sister-in-law’s house helping her with a birthday party for her daughter, who was turning 10 or 11. All those pretty little girls were dancing and singing along to Madonna’s “Like A Virgin,” and they knew all the words, although I doubt they knew what it meant. I was horrified, but my sister-in-law was beaming at them. I’ve never forgotten it. In the intervening years, I’ve lost contact with them, but I sometimes wonder how that birthday girl turned out, what type of woman she became.
Anne,
That reminds me of a time I went to pick up my daughter from a sleepover/birthday party when she was 13. When I walked into the parents house the girls were putting on a sleezy talent show & singing to inappropriate music. I told that mother what I thought about that and my daughter never slept over there again!
That is disgusting and I would have had such a hard time keeping my mouth shut. My daughter is almost 4 and just yesterday I was getting onto her, rather trying to make her understand that just shaking her butt (thanks to cheeky the monkey) wasn’t lady like! I can’t believe the irresponsibility, the world sexualizes our daughters enough, it’s our job to work against that! Ugh!!!
I agree that the parent should be more in control and aware of what is appropriate for a little child. I wonder if the child was singing this in 10 years and understood it would the mom and dad still think it is funny? In addition they were making a lot of noise in a public setting.
I waw sidetracked by this post and forgot to congratulate the 2 winners. Congratulations.
It really just shows that the deterioration of the US has starts with the parents and what they allow for their children. So sad but it really doesn’t have to be this way.
