If there has even been a time for a woman to wear a beautiful necklace, this is it.
In 2014, fancy necklaces and costume jewelry aren’t just for dressing up anymore. The latest necklaces for women are stylish enough for a trip to the grocery store and your child’s parent teacher conference.
The trend of wearing fabulous jewelry works at the office too.
The next time you want to add a little style to your business suit or basic sheath dress, don’t forget to drape your neck with your favorite festive and beautiful bauble.
Here’s how, when and where to rock your favorite women’s necklace:
1. Go faux. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to wear a glitzy piece of jewelry. This season, designers are upgrading basic and traditional women’s necklaces from boring to beautiful with eye-catching embellishments and flourishes. In fact, an inexpensive, exotic and intricate-looking necklace is sure to flatter the wearer – and without breaking the bank.
2. Wear an ornate piece of jewelry with your jeans and white t-shirt. Yes, a large bedazzled and bejeweled necklace that complements a white cocktail dress looks just as amazing when worn with your casual tee and dark-colored denim.
3. Go for the gold or silver. Jewelry designers are now updating classic metal necklaces with crystal, pearl and diamond accents. You can wear this type of jewelry for a dose of glamour during the daytime and nighttime.
4. Wear a statement necklace. Be it adorned with jewels or ribbons, this bold piece of neckwear is like a piece of sculpture when worn with a strapless black dress or a long flowing gown. Choose a choker necklace with center detailing featuring gorgeous pearls and gems to draw the eye up and around your beautiful neckline.
5. Think dainty, for evening. A double-strand of a delicate silver filigree necklace is perfect for a special event. You can balance a long black dress and an updo with an elegant piece of glamour around your neck. On the other hand, you can dress up a pair of dark jeans and a V-neck top for a look that is boho-chic.
6. Dress your neck for work. A single chain can make a dramatic statement when worn with a simple dress or business suit. You can also wear a cluster of three necklaces to personalize you casual Friday outfit.
7. Run your weekend errands in style. A stack of three or four bohemian beaded jewelry worn around the neck complements a trench coat, jeans and ballet flats, or a cape, t-shirt dress and kitten heels beautifully. Make sure to pair them with colorful stones on your wrists and fingertips to add extra interest to your daytime look.
8. Rock a necklace that features gemstones and precious stones. A metallic gold chain featuring a colorful gemstone pendant has curves in all of the right places. You can work this look with a show-stopping cocktail dress and a pair of sky-high heels for evening.
9. Be boho-chic. A triple-strand beaded necklace or a long, multi-colored pendant necklace can transform a pair of worn denim, a pair of platform shoes and a basic tee into a classic bohemian look.

Thanks for all the great tips! I have so many necklaces and seldom wear most of them. Usually I only wear jewelry that has some type of memory attached, like the first gift my husband got me- which was a simple necklace. I always gravitate towards wearing something with a story. But with more ideas on how to wear other necklaces, I might just have to switch things up 🙂
You have definitely given me ideas on how to wear jewelry. I love to wear matching sets although I don;t always find the items together. A striking piece of jewelry can make all the difference in how you look and how you feel about yourself too.
Love the ideas and definitely greatly timed. Fashion pieces and costume jewelry are everywhere. You’re right you can pair them with jeans, casual dresses, or formal wear. My neighbor was wearing pearls yesterday with jean shorts and a black shirt. I wore a tan dress with a large coral and gold necklace and a coral shrug. We could have easily switched necklaces for a different look so necklaces are fun to play with and switch up. I’m glad there are so many styles out…colors, size, stones, metal, even the lengths. I am having fun branching out from my normal simple chain, but you are right sometimes even that chain can really power up a work outfit.
Ya know, this is a topic that I am very grateful for and am surprised that I have never seen before. I have tons of necklaces of all kinds, but honestly I never knew how and when to wear them so they just stay in the chest. It’s time to get them out and enjoy them.
