Ham and Cream Cheese Rollups Recipe

July 3, 2014 by Classystaff

I was raised in the north with a lot of German and Swedish influences in the foods that we were served. That carries over to today with the fact that many of the foods I make for my family are from what I grew up on. I remember the first time I ever had this recipe. I was visiting my parents and my Aunt made these and brought them to dinner. I was kind of leery about trying it because frankly it seemed weird to me, but once I bit into one, I was hooked!

I often make these for appetizers but today I had them for lunch. A fast and easy low carb meal! Yum!

Ham and Cream Cheese Rollups Recipe

Ingredients:

Thin Sliced Cooked Ham
Cream Cheese – low cal is okay
Pickle spears or Gerkins

Directions
Simply lay out your ham slices and spread some cream cheese on each slice. Add your favorite pickle and roll up.

Depending on the size of the pickle, you can cut the ham in half like I did here since I was using small gerkins. If you are making a platter for appetizers, it is easier to use a larger dill spear and the whole slice of ham. Then roll up and slice into sections.

When I first read this recipe it looked weird to me, but if you think about it, the ingredients are everything that would go into a sandwich, just without the bread. It’s something fast and easy, something you can eat if you run out of bread. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

I love that your recipe includes a pickle. I have made these in the past with marinated asparagus spears which are a bit pricey. I am going to have to try them with pickles. They look delish.

My grandmother never made anything like these before. LOL! I thought when I first saw them that they were something you craved when pregnant!

My grandmother make something very similar but we use either salami or corned beef and a dill pickle with the cream cheese. People always look at these very weird but once they try them they are gone in seconds! Such an easy recipe and people love them! Thanks for sharing and reminding me of my grandma!
