Under the Sea Shells Activity Set from Learning Resources

My Thoughts: As you all know, I have a grand daughter who is 5 years old who loves to come over to our house and play various games with us. When it comes to games, I am pretty picky about the ones we buy and play with her. I want the games to be educational but yet fun!

This particular word problem activity set is almost like a game but it something they can play with on their own, with a partner or in small groups. Perfect for those of you who homeschool too!

Example Card: There are 3 lines of sea creatures. A starfish is the line leader for each line. 4 crabs line up behind each of the starfish. How many total sea creatures are in line now? (the answer is printed at the bottom of the card, upside down and the answer is 12 sea creatures).

For our purpose, I would read each card to the Princess and then she would use the sea creatures to figure out the answer to each question. In other words, she is solving a math problem but doing it in a fun way! Some of the cards (questions) she found to be easy but most of them really made her think. The ones she got wrong, we put on a pile and then returned to them later. The ones she got right went onto a different pile.

Everything about this Word Problem Activity Set is super cute and well thought out. I love that there are a wide variety of questions that really get our children to think and problem solve. While they are learning, they are indeed having fun with this set!

You can purchase the Learning Resources Under the Sea Shells Word Problem Activity Set directly from Amazon for a really great price.
