One of my ultimate favorite places to be in this world happens to be at the Jersey Shore at our coastal beach house. I have been going to the Jersey Shore since I was 5 years old multiple times every year and have beautiful childhood memories.
Now that I am an adult…I am very fortunate that hubby and I made a wise investment several years ago and have our own beach pad for when we visit. Sigh, I am looking forward to living down there full time once we both retire which will be in 7-8 years.
For my “almost” Wordless Wednesday post this week you will see me standing on the beach. Hubby and I were walking the beach and doing some shell collecting (I use shells in my home decorating and crafting) and we looked out over the ocean and saw a school of dolphins playing in the water.
We tried for 15 minutes to snap a photo of the beautiful dolphins but they are just way too fast for us! We missed them in all 42 photos that we took. Ugh! The only photo we have to remember that special moment in time is one that hubby got of me while I was watching the dolphins play.
Oh well, we will keep trying as we see the dolphins almost daily. If I can get a good shot of them while we are here…I will certainly share that photo with all of you.
Well there you have it…another “almost” Wordless Wednesday post for this week. Once we return from vacation, I will share additional photos with all of you over the next several weeks. Enjoy!

I had read this post, but I don’t see any comment from me so I shall make it now. You are right that you are lucky to have a beach house on the shore – in this case Jersey coast line. I laughed (Sorry) that you took 42 photos and couldn’t capture the dolphins on any of them, but that memory will enhance your memory of the whole wonderful sighting. Dolphins are such marvelous creatures.
Although I am a photographer, I am also a firm believer that it’s much more important to experience something than to photograph it. So you may not have gotten a picture of the dolphins, but you had the joy of watching them, which to me is priceless.
Absolutely! I totally agree with that! We were out on the beach earlier (cloudy as all heck here right now) but I didn’t care. We got 3 full bags of shells today b/c others are staying away from the beach. Wootwoot! I do have a lot of cool pics I have been taking while on vacay that I will share here on the blog over the coming weeks.
North Wildwood was spared when Sandy came through here. Just some flooding, water damage and power outages. Everything is open on the Wildwood Island and in Cape May.
What a site that must have been! Enjoy your time at the Shore! I wish my family could join you all!!
I had no idea that you could see dolphins from your shoreline! How exciting! I would love to see dolphins, manatees and whales in their habitat. So exciting! I love to walk the beach after a good storm and look for shells that have been washed up on the shore!
Too bad you did not get pix, but the memory is worth so much more. Years ago my husband and I were in Eastern Canada and saw a large group of people just sitting on the edge of a small cove. Hundreds of people, absolutely silent. Watching a pod of whales breaching and “singing” in the water. We joined them and for over an hour the crowd grew and everyone just absorbed the beautiful sight, again in absolute silence. I cannot think of the the right word to describe how we felt or the scene but it was almost spiritual to see these amazing animals doing what they are meant to do in the wild. Some people were even crying. Truly wordless.
I’ve never been to the Jersey Shore. I’ve only been to the ocean a couple of times in my 65 years. We always went up in the mountains either here in Colorado or in Wyoming.
A friend of mine went to Seaside Heights on Saturday (June 7) to check it out. He said that only about half of the boardwalk games and arcades were up and running and none of the rides were operating. I don’t know if Point Pleasant is doing any better at the moment. I can’t imagine not going to the Jersey Shore at least once during the summer, but, you never know.
