Sesame Street Alphabet Songs DVD

Sesame Street Alphabet Songs DVD
Do you remember singing along with Sesame Street when you were a youngster? Sesame Street came into being on television when my children were very young and they loved watching it. They also learned a great deal from the show. They sang and danced along with the muppets. Now there is a new release out from Sesame Workshop and Warner Brothers Home Entertainment who they have come together for Sesame Street: Alphabet Songs. It has recently been released and I was sent a copy for review. I just couldn’t wait to watch it with some of my great grandchildren. This group ranges in age from 2 to 6. One girl and three boys. I finally got them all corralled in front of the TV and got them to sit down. When their ‘Papa’ put the DVD in they all sat still to watch this video.

The video features many beloved Sesame Street characters and guest performances by Norah Jones, the Dixie Chicks and Smokey Robinson. There are lot’s of wonderful tunes and stories about each letter to help the little ones visualize and connect with each letter. They are presented by Sesame Street Muppets, cartoon characters and real children to help the children hear the sounds that go with each letter. The letters appear in so many different presentations that the kids can relate to the letters and the sounds in many ways.

Before long the children, parents, grandparents and their Gigi (me, their great grandmother) were all singing along and the little ones were dancing along to the wonderful songs. If the 2-3 year olds watched this video a few times they would be ready for pre-school because they would already know the alphabet and recognize the letters on sight.

My daughter adores the alphabet and it would be great to get her a little more invested in the characters who are not Elmo.
