Rumanio Cheese Natural and Organic Cheeses

I bet when you think of California, you think of hot summers, cool beaches and lots of Hollywood glamour. But what most people don’t realize is that California is full of farms. Loaded with farms and that includes veggies, nuts, cotton, hay and dairy’s. California is a very large dairy state and from that comes amazing cheeses and milk products. I was excited to be able to try a home grown cheese from a company a few hours from me. I love sharing local products.

Rumiano Cheese Company is the oldest family-owned cheese company in California and was the first to product certified non-GMO organic cheeses. That is saying something. Today it is still run by the Rumanio family and they are serving up some amazing flavors. The offer two different cheese lines – natural line and organic. The natural line is grassfed and comes from milk from local dairies in Northern California. The Rumiano Family Organic line is certified organic and Non-GMO Project Verified. Fresh from the 2014 California State Fair Cheese Competition judging results, they racked up 6 wins! That is impressive. I was excited to find a few of their products from the natural line at my grocers.

Since I live in a small town, I did have a bit of a stretch finding a good selection of their products, but I was happy to get the Jalapeno Pepper Jack and the Original Jack cheese wedges here. Both of these are enjoyed by my family normally so we were excited to try a new brand.

I am the pepper jack lover here so my favorite was the Jalapeno Pepper Jack. The cheese is creamy and smooth and the pepper is not overwhelming at all. It has the right level of bite that was nicely balanced throughout. I love adding pepper jack to burgers and sandwiches for that flavor pop and this cheese is one that I know will compliment them perfectly.

The Original Jack cheese was also wonderful. This is is so creamy and smooth. It has a bit of chew to it to it does not fall apart on you and it pairs wonderfully with anything. We tried these with a bit of salami and crackers and it was a tasty lunch!

I am really happy I was introduced to the Rumaino Cheese company. I will keep my eyes out for more flavors and request more to be brought in to my local shops too. Definitely a find.
