Food Huggers Reusable Food Savers

June 7, 2014 by Classystaff

How much food do you waste a year because you don’t have a way to keep them fresh and usable? I was sent a cool new item for review that works on helping you keep your food fresher longer. You need to know about Food Huggers.
Food Huggers Reusable Food Savers
Food Huggers, silicone reusable food savers, were created to cap your food so it will stay fresher, longer. I love the beautiful vibrant colors they come in. These Food Huggers come in shapes and sizes that are totally great for whatever you want to save. They are offered in 2 sets; one for assorted veggies and the other for avocados.

I used them for avocados that stayed perfectly green and without that yucky black stuff they get when exposed to air. Tomatoes that I cut a few slices off for a BLT stayed as fresh as when first cut. I also used one on an onion that I needed only a few slices from. I was thrilled that the refrigerator didn’t smell like onion when I opened the door a few hours later. They are so simple to use. You just push the food down in the Food Hugger and a seal is formed to protect the food. I have a cat that only gets one half of a can of Fancy Feast a day. The smallest Food Hugger fits over the can to go into the fridge for the next day. It stays as good as when first opened.

These sweet little Food Huggers are the creations of Michelle Ivankovic, who is an industrial designer, and Adrienne McNichols, who is in marketing. At this moment the caps are available on line only at FoodHuggers. The ladies are making plans to have them in stores very soon.

The caps are made of 100% FDA grade silicone. They are free of BPA and Phthalate. You can clean them in the dishwasher and use them in the microwave or the freezer. I am sure you will able to find many uses for these handy caps so be sure to drop by their web site to take a look and check out the videos for all of the different ways of using them.

I love these food huggers. I like that you can use them directly on the food or on jars. I have the ProFresh Keepers in hard plastic which I use, but these would take up less room. I like the avocado one the most.

I am loving the look of these! These would be perfect me and my family! I am constantly throwing out old and spoiled produce! Thanks for the review!

Now, how adorable are these? Aside from being very clever and useful, just are just so cute. I can surely use this – I’m ashamed to say how much produce we end up dumping because it goes before we can eat it. These are perfect, so much better than just putting things in a baggie. I”m interested in the assorted veggies, as we are not much on avocados here. Gonna check it!

I LOVE these! We are only 2 people, so we always have partially used food that needs to go into the frisge – and like you, the onions do quite a good job at spreading their “glory” even when I used plastic wrap. I’d love to give these a try! And that they are BPA-free is special…

Since I live alone I very often have veggies that need to be capped with something like this. Thanks for the review.

One word: Genius! Oh, one more word: Want!

I checked out their website and surfed over to their Facebook page, where I found out they have a special free shipping offer through June 10 with the code MADELINE (from Madeline’s Nutrition Blog). I’m definitely going to give this some serious consideration.

We need this. I’m glad I read your review. We have been wondering how these were and if they really worked. My daughter loves produce, and, while most things, get eaten there is always some that go bad. We hate throwing them away. What a great way to enjoy your produce and not worry about it going bad! Love that they have an assorted set, too, so you don’t have to buy different sets for different types.

I think these are awesome! I love that they are reusable and actually work. I would love to have the fresh veggies set. I’ll check the website and see how much they cost. Thanks for the heads up.

These Food huggers Food savers are really great for keeping veges fresh by not having them exposed to the air. I like eating avocadoes, but I do not like the way they look in my regular container. I would like to get these!
