Classic TV Shows from the 70’s and 80’s

June 30, 2014 by Shelly

RCAtvbigscreenBack in the good old days, there seems there were more quality family-friendly TV programming than what is on today. Don’t get me wrong, I like a lot of the shows that are currently on (HELLO – Walking Dead) but I also feel that a lot of TV shows are just JUNK!

Back in the 1970’s and 1980’s when I was growing up, I was a BIG fan of The Bionic Woman, The Bionic Man, Wonder Woman, V, Charlie’s Angels, Dallas, Melrose Place, American Bandstand, etc.

So today, for those of you who are old enough (yeah, showing my age here)…what classic TV shows from the 70’s and 80’s did you enjoy watching?shellysig100x60

I enjoyed watching All in the Family, Bewitched, Rockford Files, and Magnum PI. I do not feel that there are enough good family shows on TV and all shows are constantly interrupted by commercials or shortened to 40 or less out of 60 minutes.
A belated congratulatkons to the 2 winners

ahhhh…you ladies rock and really suggested some great classics! My hubby back in the day was a big fan of Fantasy Island and Magnum PI. Sigh…I wish they would bring back some of the oldies but with a new & modern cast.

I miss the television shows of the 70’s and the 80’s. I loved Little House on the Prairie, The Jeffersons, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Mash, Taxi, All in the Family, The Monkeys, The Brady Bunch, Magnum P.I. Falcon Crest, Dallas, Knots Landing, Dynasty, MASH just to name a few.

I hate the crap that is on TV these days nothing but women getting raped and murdered: CSI MIami, CSI New York, CSI Las Vegas, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, Criminal Minds, Person of Interest and the disgusting list goes on and on and on.

I miss shows that were family friendly, had theme songs and were close to an hour long. Shows these days are only like 38 minutes long and the rest is ALL commercials.

Hill Street Blues was my very favorite! But when I was a kid I loved Davy Crockett and the Phil Silvers show.

I have always had a soap opera that I followed even then….General Hospital. My husband and I also watched Laverne and Shirley, Welcome Back Kotter, Happy Days, Who’s the Boss, Dukes of Hazard. As a family, we enjoyed watching Facts of Life, Full House, and Family Ties….good family shows.

Dallas! Both new and old is great. I also really miss “Soap”. Nowadays we watch a lot of Game of Thrones, Sons of Anarchy, I really like the “Tyrant” pilot as well.
Growing pains was also a show I really enjoyed as well as Three’s Company.

What about the Dukes of Hazard?! I loved that show growing up and The Fall Guy….. Wasn’t Lee Majors the best?! Charlie’s Angels and Miami Vice were also favorites. I also have a very fond memories of watching Roseanne in the late 80’s. That’s when her show was the best! Congrats to the winners!

A few of my fave shows from that time were Rockford Files, Adam-12 and The Love Boat. Wholesome shows that didn’t have the cursing and sex you see today. Well, they left you to imagine on The Love Boat anyway, lol. Glad they still have the reruns around.
