Good morning everyone! Well, I am exhausted today and miserable with another migraine and my body is aching! I didn’t get to bed until 1am and I woke up in terrible pain at 5am. Today is going to be rough!
Today’s Topic: When hubby and I got married in the mid 1980’s we hosted our wedding and reception for 100 guests at around $3,000. Our daughter is getting married in early September and already we are close to $20,000 and the wedding hasn’t gotten here yet! Wow! She isn’t going over-board like some weddings I have been too lately and I would say she is in the “middle of the pack” when it comes to wedding expenses. I am really SHOCKED at how much a decent wedding costs these days!
So, do you have any wedding money-saving tips to share with us and our readers today? If so, I would love to hear them so please leave your tips in our blog’s comment form below.
Wow, I’m guessing most parents out there secretly hope their kids just elope, lol!
Sorry you are not feeling well!
As for weddings….I have been married twice. The first time, it was a simple ceremony in the officiant’s study, with a total of 11 people, then we all went out to a nice restaurant. The second wedding was in a Vegas chapel, with 2 witnesses, and we went to diner afterwards. It’s not just the money, but the idea of dealing with a venue, caterers, flowers, liquor, gown….OMG. I could never deal with that!
I am sorry you did not get a good night sleep and that you are tired. I know what being tired is because that is what I am today. I do not have any tips for having a Low Cost Wedding. But could some of the cost of the Reception be reduced by having tablecloths and other items bought at the Dollar Store. I wonder if that is even an option. Congrats on your daughter getting married!! But weddings are very expensive.
Wow that’s a lot of money for a wedding. I sewed my own wedding gown, made my own veil headpiece (so easy!) and also my own flowers (lovely dried and still have them!) We were married (also in the eighties) on a mountain top in Lake Tahoe (no guests except the best man). It was all planned and frugal but I know most wouldn’t want it that way. Money saver nonetheless.
Congratulations to the 2 winners.
Weddings are very expensive nowadays. You know how to search for the best deals and the only tips I can recommend would involve a lot of work. For example, you could make your own decorations, name placements, wedding favors, etc. for a lot less money than if you pay a decorator to do it.
