Getting Ready for Company

May 30, 2014 by Classystaff

Happy Family https://twoclassychics.com/2014/05/getting-ready-company/
Happy Friday!! I am so happy for the end of the week. I have a lot to do this weekend to get ready for next week. It will be a special time for me and my family next week. First off, my son will finally be graduating on Thursday night! I am so excited for him. Transitioning to a new chapter in life is always exciting. He has is first job that starts in a few weeks too, very part time, but hopefully will lead to another job. Also my Dad, brother and sister-in-law will be flying in Wednesday to spend some time with us to celebrate graduation. I cannot tell you how excited I am for that! It has been a year and a half since I have seen them and I cannot tell you how many years it has been since they have been here to my home.

So with that said, it has been a wild frenzy to get the house in order. My hubby decided that he was going to refinish the kitchen cabinets and my house has been a construction zone for over a week now. I cannot even stand it. The top cupboards are not finished but he has to stop and get what he has down finished so we can tackle the most important fix – my living room floor! I am so not looking forward to that.

While I love company coming to visit, I hate the preparation before hand. Ugh! All of the cleaning and organization. I just wish I had some time to completely do my office. That might be a stretch, but I am going to try anyway! Do you go through the cleaning frenzy before the family comes to stay or am I the only crazy one??

For some reason I missed commenting on this post , so a belated congratulations to the 2 winners.
I hope your cleaning of the living room and kitchen is almost done. Enjoy yourself and don’t worry too much about the cleaning. Your family is arriving tomorrow and then your son will be graduating on Thursday. The day is almost here. You must be so proud.

What a wonderful time for you! True, cleaning up the house is a pain, but your son’s graduation! It’s very exciting, as is your family coming to visit after not having seen them in so long. As for a cleaning frenzy here? We get no company – so we don’t have to go through it. I wouldn’t mind, though, if my daughter and grandkids came. I haven’t seen my daughter since 1999, and I’ve never met my grandkids, though are 6 and 8 already, Maybe one of these days…..

Wow–you’re not just cleaning, you’re doing some serious work on the house! We haven’t had anyone stay with us in years, and I don’t know what I’d do if somebody said they were coming. The “guest room” is our only storage here (no attic, no basement), so even the bed in their is covered with stuff. Ugh–too much stuff.

Anyway, good luck and have a great time!

Oops, I meant “the bed in THERE” and not “the bed in their.” Sorry. (As a former proofreader and editor, I can’t believe I posted that mistake!)

I just love your blog posts. You really are good at making them interesting. Congrats on your son graduating. It is such a huge accomplishment and it is great to have a big Celebration. I hope you get everything done, and it is always nice to get to connect with family when they have been gone. Do not get to tired from cleaning!

Congratulations on your son’s graduation. But please try to remember that your family is coming to see you not your home. Don’t drive yourself crazy to the point that you cannot enjoy the time before, during and after. Have a great weekend and try not to work to hard.

So proud of my nephew and his graduation! I got his announcement and photo last evening, so dang handsome! You all wouldn’t like living at my house at all because I go on a cleaning frenzy every week. I love to clean & organize. I do admit, I take it over-board and have a problem with that but I love walking through my house every week and seeing/smelling CLEAN!

Congrats to the winners and to your son.
Aren’t you supposed to go crazy with cleaning before guests come?
    Happy reunion.

How great to see your family and celebrate your son’s graduation. Makes me nervous for you with those kitchen cabinets–hope they get done quickly!

    Congratulation to the winners.

Congratulations to your son. What a wonderful time in life I remember graduation like it was yesterday. You are not alone when ever I have company coming I always knock myself out cleaning and shopping and then cleaning again oh and rearranging things and throwing things out. The crazy thing is when your company comes they are so excited to see you that I really don’t think they care that much about the house. I hope you all have a wonderful time together.

Congrats to your son! Company is a lot of fun and a lot of work. Happy to have them and often happy to see them leave. 🙂 It’s so great that they are getting to come. How exciting for you! Lots of good things going on. Try not to completely stress about cleaning or getting things ready. Make sure you enjoy your time with them. Hug them tightly and have fun….the office will still be there later.
