Good morning everyone! Happy Hump Day Wednesday! Even though the calendar says Wednesday…it feels like a Monday to me! Sigh! The holiday weekend has me all screwed up this week!
Today’s Topic: Last evening my little 5 year old grand daughter called me. She calls me almost every night to talk to me. She has been doing this since she was 3 years old and I look forward to our phone calls even though she only lives 8 minutes from my home.
Anyway, she rings me up last night and says “Nanny, can you see my fish faces?” and I said “what?” because I didn’t understand what she meant. Well, I irked her off because she learned how to do “fish faces” and she was irritated that I was telling her that I couldn’t see her new “fish face” through the phone! LOL After we get through all of that…she finally tells me that I must be as blind as a bat? What? Where the heck did she learn that? It seems she is picking up some things at school which I am not very fond of at this moment! Children always say the darnest things, don’t they?
Too funny! Obviously, she couldn’t see you over the phone, but still, she thought you could see her. And I bet she is cute cute cute when she makes her fish face, too. LOL! Thanks for sharing this peek into a little girl’s mind. 🙂
Congrats to the winners.
This reminds me of the old Art Linkletter show: Kids say the darndest things.
That is so cute that your grand daughter calls you every night and that is funny that she couldn’t understand why you couldn’t see her fish face. I agree with you I don’t like what kids pick up from other kids at school.
I love the funny things my kids tell me. They have a knack for making me laugh.
Cute! How special those phone calls are. My grandkids live 24 hours from me so talking and skyping with them are big highlights. They do us that way. They will bring something they won or made up to the phone. “See, Grandma. Don’t you like my picture….” We’ve explained several times that we can’t see each other and that’s where skyping really is important.
Ahahahaha! I wish I would have kept a journal of all of the silly things that my daughter used to say.
Kids are always so funny! And you have to be so careful what you say in front of them!
Sometimes when kids say something they hear from others, esp adults, it can be funny! I was helping out in the nursery at church, when a little boy comes walking in, throws down, his bag, and exclaims (like an adult), “oh, my achin’ back.” All of about 3 years old. Of course, when they are imitating bad things, it is troubling. How sweet your granddaughter calls you every day!!!
Congratulations to the 2 winners.
Your granddaughter could have picked out that saying from an old movie. It has been a very long time since I heard it. I think it is a lovely tradition that your granddaughter calls you every night. Children are so used to technology with photos they don’t always realize that they are not always images with communications.
I’m amused at the older sayings kids repeat, maybe heard from their grandparents or an old movie. You can tell exactly where they picked it up from since nobody says it anymore and that makes it more comical. Good times.
Congrats to the winners! You’re right kids do say the funniest things. I remember when my son was little, maybe 3 or 4, the little kids would be called to the front of the church before going into their own Bible study during the sermon. I was always scared to death at what might come out of his mouth! Like you said, they can pick up stuff from anywhere away from home. Luckily, I was never mortified! Your granddaughter sounds like a cutie!
