I first got hooked on reading books by author V.C. Andrews when I was in my late 20’s. For the past 25 years I have become obsessed with all of her books and made-for-tv movies.
Petals on the Wind is the second installment in a 5-book series in the Dollanganger series, ISBN: 9781476789552.
* Flowers in the Attic
* Petals in the Wind
* If there be Thorns
* Seeds of Yesterday
* Garden of Shadows
Petals on the Wind picks up where Flowers in the Attic left off.
For 3 years they were kept hidden in the attic at Foxworth Hall, their existence all but denied by a mother who schemed to inherit a fortune. For 3 years their fate was in the hands of their mean and nasty grandmother. The kids had to stay to strong in a very hopeless world. One day came along and Cathy, her brother Christopher and their younger sister Carrie finally escaped Foxworth Hall and left for a new life.
Cathy and Christopher developed a romantic involvement with one another back in Flowers in the Attic and now that the three of them are starting over, the legacy and dark secrets continue. They scrape up some money and buy bus tickets to start over where no one knows them or their past history.
Christopher enrolls in medical school and together they try to raise their younger sister Carrie. Along the way, they meet people who help them out and for a long time they keep their secrets hidden.
The author does a fantastic job of keeping you thoroughly entertained from page one through the end of this book. You are constantly waiting for the next twist & turn in this suspenseful psychological thriller. A lot of the things they do…most of us would agree is unthinkable and unethical but yet because of their past history, we feel sorry for the characters in this book.
Recently, Petals in the Wind was made into a Lifetime TV movie and will be airing on Lifetime tonight! Check your local listings for the air time of the movie. I will be watching, will you?

I knew abut this series and that it was very good, but I get so involved in a story that it can give me nightmares, so I never read the books. My children said the series was great.
Okay, I stayed up late last night and I watched Petals on the Wind! I thought the movie was fantastic and it really brought the book to life! I am really excited that the next 2 books in the series:
If there be thorns
Seeds of Yesterday
are both being made into Lifetime movies too! Yay!!!
I read Flowers in the Attic about 10 times the summer between 11th and 12th grade, but then got so engulfed in studies I never read any other VC Andrews and so wanted to. I’m headed to the library site now to download Petals – thanks for the review and motivation!
I hope the movie is at least half as good as the book. I read this whole series and couldn’t put them down. V.C. Andrews is one of my favorite authors of all time. I started reading this series in high school and continued to finish several series.
I commented on FB Don’t forget!!! The brand new Petals on the Wind movie will be on lifetime tonight! It is based on the Petals on the Wind book by V.C. Andrews. Book Review: Petals on the Wind by V.C. Andrews

Sorry I was reading this post from your FB page and commented on it instead of your Organix giveaway. I’m sorry about that.
I haven’t read the series since it came out so many years ago! But I loved it and like you say you get hooked! I used to wait with such anticipation for the next book in the series to be released. The movie comes on tonight here and I will be watching!
