Astoria Overcoat For Dogs from Gold Paw Series

May 20, 2014 by Kristine

Spring is fully underway and summer is right around the corner, which means rain may be on the way. If you are a dog owner like me, you still like to take your best friend out for a stroll, even if the weather is a little dreary and wet. In my house, when Colby doesn’t get a walk, he becomes a very sad and depressed little creature. We can’t have that, can we?

Enter the perfect solution for those rainy days—the waterproof Astoria Overcoat from Gold Paw Series. Gold Paw Series is a family-run dogwear company dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and their owners with thoughtful, practical solutions to everyday problems. All of their products are proudly made in the USA and utilize custom-made, low-impact textiles. I was asked to review one along with my dog Colby.
Astoria Overcoat For Dogs from Gold Paw Series
The stylish Astoria Overcoat by Gold Paw Series is named after the city of Astoria, Oregon, perched on the confluence of the Columbia River and the surging Pacific, it is a locale well known for heavy weather. I chose to review the red and orange overcoat for Colby. I thought it would look best on him given his black fur. Not only does this coat keep him dry and warm against the rain and wind, but I must say he looks quite fancy.

Some of the features of the Astoria Overcoat are:
– Seamless Suppletec body means truly waterproof
– Oversize collar for excellent coverage
– Reflective trim at collar
– Mesh lining – cool enough for temperate rain, layer over a fleece in very cold weather
– Stretchy, moves with the dog
– Leash opening in larger sizes, D-ring attachment in smaller sizes

One of the other features of the coat that I really like is the reflective trim, which assures that your dog can be seen during night walks. Having a jet black dog, this feature definitely comes in handy for me. This coat is also made to protect the dog that can’t seem to steer clear of the mud. The coat is washable and can be thrown into the washing machine.

The Astoria Overcoat comes in a variety of colors (Navy, Light Pink, Red and Safety Yellow) and sizes and the web site even offers a fitting guide to ensure that you get your pooch fitting perfectly into his or her new outerwear!

As you’ll see from the photo, Colby looks quite pleased to be posing in his new duds. He gives the Astoria Overcoat a five out of five tail wags!
