A Song For Us by Teresa Mummert

April 5, 2014 by Classystaff

I was happy to receive the 3rd book in the White Trash series by Teresa Mummert for review. I have reviewed the first two in the series here on the site. White Trash Beautiful and White Trash Damaged. You can check out the reviews to refresh your memory and get ready for the third book.

A Song For Us by Teresa Mummert
Series: White Trash
Publisher: Gallery Books; Original edition
Pub date: April 22, 2014
ISBN-13: 978-147673209

Synopsis: Cass Daniels and rocker Tucker White are finally replacing guitar feedback with wedding bells as Teresa Mummert concludes her gritty New York Times and USA Today bestselling trilogy. But now it’s Eric’s turn for love. Will the band’s brooding drummer ever let go of his troubled past—and the one girl he can’t forget?

Thanks to the MTV Video Music Awards, Damaged is suddenly famous. But as their star rises, drummer Eric begins to spiral out of control. Haunted by the tragic events of his childhood, he gets into fights after gigs and flies off the handle when the paparazzi approach. Drinking numbs the pain—but his behavior could cost him his rock star dreams.

Only one person has ever gotten Eric to open up about his life. Sarah, the lead singer of Filth, has a confident façade that masks her own painful secrets. But Sarah’s tumultuous relationship with her bandmate and boyfriend Derek forces her to keep Eric at a distance. As their friendship grows into something more, Eric has to find a way to forget his tortured past before it jeopardizes his only chance for a happy future.

My Thoughts: I was looking forward to reading the third book in the series and I was pleased to find that the author still has the same great writing style for this book as the first too. I have to admit I was a little disappointed that more of the other 2 main characters, Cass and Tucker, in the first two books were only highlighted in this one here and there. The theme is focused around their wedding and features Eric and Sarah.

The relationship between Eric and Sarah is difficult. They both have feelings for each other and everyone knows it. Derek, Sarah’s boyfriend, is in the middle with hate towards Eric and feelings for Sarah. The author has created a huge amount of issues with these characters and most of the book is them trying to work through enough to trust and admit that they care for each other.

I enjoyed the book but I did get a bit irritated with chapter after chapter of angst and drama. I kept saying to myself – just admit it and lets get to the happy part. But once the happy part got there, it was worth the wait. I loved the ending!

Overall, this book is a good installment for this series and one that you will enjoy too. This is coming out in a few weeks so make sure to pre order your copy.

This sounds like another good book from this author, but it is difficult not to learn more about Cass and Tucker after the first 2 books. I think it would be a little too much for me to read so many chapters about their issues and how they try to get through them and finally overcome them.

Sounds interesting…but I know what you mean about getting irritated when you think you know where this is headed & it’s taking too long, lol!!
