Searching for Perfect by Jennifer Probst

I have had the pleasure of reading all of Jennifer Probst’s books and I have yet to be disappointed in any of them. So when I had the chance to review a new release from her this month, I was happy to do so. This book is second in the Searching For series and it is one you will want to look for at your library or bookstore.

The up-and-coming matchmaking agency Kinnections is the hottest thing to hit Verily, New York—just like Kennedy Ashe, social director for the service she owns with her two best girlfriends. A coach, consultant, and cheerleader rolled into one super-sizzling package, Kennedy creates dream dates, encourages singles to shine, and never refuses a challenge—not even Nate Ellison Raymond Dunkle, rocket scientist, nerd extraordinaire, and Kennedy’s newest client.

Kennedy vows to work her magic and transform this hot mess in a lab coat with a disastrous relationship track record into the most wanted man on the Verily dating scene. If only she could turn the wand on herself… Though she radiates confidence and sex appeal, Kennedy harbors deep-seated insecurities from a tormented past and lifelong struggle with weight issues. When she realizes she and Nate are cut from the same cloth and might be perfect together, can Kennedy learn to let her heart lead the way? Or will her fears sentence her to the sidelines as Nate finds love—with someone else?

My thoughts: When I first started reading this book, I had to smile. It is humorous how the author creates some of her characters with all of the flaws and no social savvy at all. Nate is a nerd with a capitol N and you just know that this makeover is going to be spectacular.

The author has a fondness for strong women that have insecurities yet exude confidence to all but the most tuned-in. This book’s strong women, Kennedy, is a typical Probst woman – beautiful, witty, calm and in need of the right man. Yet they are so difficult to find unless you look right in front of you. The author creates a great story and has her characters strong and smart and not ashamed of it. It is a pleasure to read a book where confidence abounds and when it breaks down, there are strong relationships and friendships to back them up.

I loved the humor that Nate has. The Nerd is dry and sarcastic yet has the heart that you expect from a gentleman. This was a fun book to read, as is all of Probst’s offerings. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors in this genre. None of her stories have disappointed and I enjoy how she connects all of the books together somehow with a common thread or connection. It is fun when the lightbulb goes off. Plus I really like that all of the Probst books can stand alone. Even though they are in a series, she offers enough information to tie them together so you are not lost. That is important to me!

I really enjoyed reading the second in the series Searching for Perfect and can only hope the third book is not long to wait. Great read! Definitely one to grab!
