Good morning everyone! It is hard to believe that it is Wednesday already but I am sure glad that Tuesday is over with! I put in a 12 hour day yesterday as we were super busy with work. Sigh.
Today’s Topic: As most of you know…I have many chronic medical problems and one of those problems is that I suffer with chronic bone, muscle and joint pain from Fibromyalgia. My mother also has Fibro so we both know what each other is going through with this condition which strikes more women than men.
Every time we get a snow storm, rain storm or other bad weather event…it sets off our pain like a wild fire in heat! A lot of people who have arthritis also see pain flare ups during bad weather events and it is a proven fact that weather can affect our pain.
How many of you are affected by rainy weather when it comes to your health? I know some people get overly depressed when cooped up indoors during rainy weather. My one aunt gets that way and we watch her like a hawk when we get sustained bad weather events.

I’m so sorry for you and your mom. For me it’s not that miserable, usually I have a headache, the type when you fill not just the pain but depression too. But I hope today/tomorrow we all will feel much better
I am sorry that you suffer so much. I am glad that some of your medications do help. My husband suffers a lot and is on many medications, but sometimes nothing helps. I know that bad weather makes my arthritis worse. We are trying physical therapy which helps a little.
Congrats to Janice! I too, suffer from severe Fibro and Arthritis (along with a multitude of other Lupus related problems) that bring me to tears every week, sometimes daily. I take more meds than I like to admit to try and control the pain. I’m better off than I was 2 years ago, but the pain still rules my life. I no longer have friends and I don’t get to leave the house except to go to the doctors. If you are not going to a Pain Specialist yet, please find a good one and go! I credit them with saving my life. It’s still an uphill battle to find just the right combo of meds and treatments but a couple of years ago I didn’t want to keep on living with the pain. Everyone here who is suffering is in my prayers.
I am so sorry for your pain with fibromyalgia. I have heard of this disorder and know that there is a lot of pain with it. My sister has terrible arthritis and pain in her back. She is disabled and has chronic pain. I really feel for you and am praying. I do not have serious medical problems at this time.
Hi Sandy,
I take Neurontin and Morphine every day for pain. Some of the pain is from Fibro and some is from Porphyria. On really extreme days I will add a dose or two of dilaudid to the mix but I really try NOT to use the dilaudid unless I have to. I don’t want to make my narc tolerence any worse than what it is already.
I tried physical therapy which made me worse…much worse! I tried seeing a chiropractor which also made me worse. I did find some relief with acupuncture, massage, biofeedback and meditation. I also did yoga (which helped) until I had a hip replacement last year. NONE of the OTC drugs helped me at all and I felt like I was suffering when on those.
Soaking in a hot bath and using a heating pad are always helpful for me too but my main relief comes from the narcotics. I did try Lyrica for awhile but I had to go off that because I have epilepsy and it made my seizures worse.
((((SHELLY)))) Thank you for sharing! I will speak to my Mom’s doctor and see what we can do!
Some life, huh, Shelly? Sometimes I do feel ready to give up. I have psoriatic arthritis, and my mom has Fibro, and we are in the middle of a rainy spell here in NYC. The 2 of us are miserable…she takes Neurontin and Vicodin, I take Vicodin and Valium, and neither of us gets a minute of relief. What is good for Fibro? My mom is old, with all sorts of other medical issues…..Can you, (not a medical person, I know), but as a person affected with Fibro recommend something that helps, or maybe share your experience? Please! Thank you!
