Pennsylvania is a big agricultural state and we are surrounded by all kinds of beautiful farmlands here in my area. There are vegetable farms, fruit farms, cattle, chicken and pig farms across our great state.
With that said, many other states are big agricultural areas too! States like Idaho, Indiana, Illinois, Virginia, Missouri, California and many others! Do you know where your food is coming from?
Recently I learned about the Matthews family based out of the great state of Missouri. I lived in St. Louis back in the late 1990’s so I was excited to learn about this farming family in Missouri.
Travis and Melinda Matthews are the parents of 4 beautiful children and when Travis was a teenager he took over the family farm after the loss of his father. Such a young age to lose a beloved parent.
Their farm is located in Western Missouri and they grow & farm soybeans and corn on 8,000 acres of beautiful farmland. The family does a great job at balancing family life and farm life…truly something to be admired & respected in today’s world.
You can learn more about the Matthew’s family and other America’s Farmers by visiting the America’s Farmers web site to learn more. It is really inspiring to read all of their stories.
America’s Farmers really do a great job that is hard work with long hours to put food on all of our tables! They are not just feeding their own families, they are feeding ours too!
I am a super busy mom, wife and grandmother who works from home and I know that my days can get crazy busy on a moment’s notice. I can not even imagine how busy those farmer’s lives can be.
Please take a few minutes out of your day today to head on over to the web site to learn more. It is truly an eye opener to where our food comes from and the wonderful farmers who produce it.
This post was created in partnership with America’s Farmers. All opinions are my own.
It’s good to know there are still real farmers out there. Everyone should see this.
I so believe in our REAL family farmers, not the industrial ones. In addition to this website, I so recommend everyone read The Seasons on Henry’s Farm: A Year of Food and Life on a Sustainable Farm – an awesome read and so insightful about the hard work farmers put in every day to make sure we can eat!
God bless our hard working American farmers. I look up to them and stand behind them. I pray everyday that their way of life continues and that the multinational chemical and
agricultural biotechnology corporations don’t put them all out of business.
Farmers work very hard and they according to what they plant there is very little time off. I admire all of America’s farmers and families and hope that the small farmers are never replaced by conglomerates.
My grandfather was a farmer in Ohio and we had farmers all around us, especially Amish farmers, living in Amish country. We’d have fresh eggs and corn from the farm when in season. One time our neighbor’s pigs got loose and we had them in our yard, tearing it up, lol.
