Fun and Pretty Pocket Posh Books of Puzzles and Games

You know when you are out somewhere and have to wait a few minutes-or maybe more than a few-how everyone has their eyes glued to their phone. Do you ever wonder what they are looking at? Are they reading e-mail or Facebook or just staring or playing one of those games that really do nothing for the mind? I have a perfect solution to all that inane time spending. I have been privileged to review some puzzle books from AndrewsMcMeel Publishing. These books are called Pocket Posh books and fit perfectly into your purse or pocket.

The Pocket Posh books are the perfect size! They have a hard cardboard cover that is delightful. In fact, when I have finished two of the puzzle books I plan to frame the covers for the inspirational messages. They have an elastic band that holds the book together in your purse or pocket. I feel like I am working my brain as I work on the puzzles. I need as much as that as possible at my age. And besides I love word games and puzzles.

The first book I chose to work on is a Sudoku. I am not very good at this puzzle but I like to try to solve them. I can solve the easy ones and some of the medium hard ones and probably none of the hard ones. I get very frustrated with the hard ones. I will let my son finish the hard ones because they are so easy for him. I’m much better at the word puzzles. Numbers have never been my thing.

The second book I worked on is Cryptograms. I just love the challenge of figuring what each letter represents. I don’t get frustrated with the words. They are so much fun for me.

The third Pocket Posh book I’m working is Jumble Crosswords. First you solve the crossword puzzle and then the Jumble part if it. This is my favorite of the samples I received. I do the crossword every day in the paper. I like to figure out all the possible words that would fit.

I like spending waiting time doing something constructive and not just sitting. Although I do enjoy “people watching” if I’m in a busy place, but these pocket sized books are the perfect things to carry with me to doctors appointments and such.

This company has Pocket Posh books to interest any taste including logical thinking, anagrams, brain games, Bible jumble, Christmas and Hanukkah puzzles, children’s puzzle books, magic eye, and the newest Japanese craze Hidato, which is totally based on logic. The puzzles are mostly from the the Puzzle Society and USA Today. When you order a puzzle book from the publisher you get a free 90 day subscription to the Puzzle Society. That way you get to try all the different types of puzzles and find your niche. The publisher not only does puzzles but calendars and other books.
