Primary Science Metal Detector from Learning Resources

Primary Science Metal Detector from Learning Resources

Today I would like to introduce you to the company called Learning Resources who makes a wide variety of educational toys and games for children. When you visit the Learning Resources web site…you can shop as a Parent or as a Teacher. Furthermore, you can shop by age group, category, by brand or by subject. I love how user-friendly the Learning Resources site is!

You will find activity sets & books, construction sets, active learning & play sets, discovery & exploration sets, electronic toys, games, puzzles, water & sand toys and a whole lot more! Everything on their site is extremely well-made and affordable.

Brand new for 2014 is this Primary Science Metal Detector from Learning Resources. My husband has a very expensive metal detector and the Princess always wants to play with it. Now she can quit bugging him and have her own!

Primary Science Metal Detector from Learning Resources

This Primary Science Metal Detector is made for children ages 3 and up. It lights up and beeps when metal is detected and has a pivoting head for easy use. One of the really cool things is that it is perfectly sized for small children and has an easy-grip handle.

It is really light-weight and compact measuring only 12″ long by 5″ in diameter. A great item to take with you to the beach, the lake, camping or just use in your own backyard. You will need to supply two AAA batteries to power it and they are not included.

There is an on/off button on the handle, a red power light indicator and there are three tiny red lights that go around the ring portion that light up when a “treasure” is detected. You place the batteries into the back of the handle and I love that its a secure compartment with a screw-entry so the kids can’t mess with the batteries.

Primary Science Metal Detector from Learning Resources

We took it out into our backyard with the Princess a few weekends ago and left her go around the yard looking for treasures. She didn’t find any treasures but she did find several old rusty nails & screws! Pappy gave her a quarter for each one she found, so that money really added up! LOL A great way to rid our yard of all of that nasty stuff too!

We really like this metal detector but do wish it had a little longer handle. She got tired after awhile of bending and squatting while using it. It is only 12″ in length, so adding a longer handle or telescopic handle would make it a perfect educational science toy for the little ones.

You can purchase the Learning Resources Primary Science Metal Detector directly from Amazon for a great price!
